Judicial report: The inquiry which was opened and adjourned at Manawatu on Monday 11.07.2011 into the late scratching of SOUTHERN EIGHTY was concluded today with no further action required. The circumstances were that the dog regained the field from the reserves but the connections of the dog did not receive that information. Subsequently SOUTHERN EIGHTY was fed and allowed to run in a paddock and when advised of the dogs re-entry to the field, the kennel representative B.Cole arranged to have the dog delivered to the track. However, the examining Vet was not happy with SOUTHERN EIGHTY'S fitness to be competitive when taking into account the circumstances which were relayed to him by the Stewards and the dog was declared a late scratching.

Race 1	Allied Work Force 0800 Labour C0 - C0 - 305	WHO'S ALICE and YIFRASHEWA collided soon after the start and YIFRASHEWA stumbled and they settled well back. CAWBOURNE FLICK and HOMEBUSH EDDIE were also slow to begin and settled near the rear. YIFRASHEWA checked across the heels of CAWBOURNE FLICK on the first corner and shifted out forcing WHO'S ALICE very wide into the bend and she covered considerable extra ground and finished in last place.
Race 2	Harrison Hire Master C0 - C0 - 305	NELLY FLAHERTY shifted in from the start and checked LEOS GIRL and ART ATTACK who both lost ground. RUSTY SAM was slow to begin losing jthree lengths. BODHRAN CAILIN was struck from behind by RUSTY SAM on the home turn and shifted out colliding with ART ATTACK and all three dogs lost ground. BODHRAN CAILIN did turn its head out during the incident but as it was not conclusive whether this was as a result of being struck from behind or not, the dog was given the benefit of some doubt but its future performances will be monitored by the Stewards.
Race 3	Guthrie Bowron C0 - C0 - 305	CLANG AND BANG and WHY NOT were slow to begin losing three lengths. WHY NOT then showed early speed to race into the body of the field but then drifted back and she finished in last place and was examined by the Vet and stood down for 21 days with pain in both wrists. LISSADELL JASPER was awkwardly placed on the first corner when HOMEBUSH SARINA shifted in and LISSADELL JASPER lost three lengths at that point.
Race 4	Crombie Lockwood (NZ) Ltd C1 - C1 - 305	HOMEBUSH SARGE galloped on the heels of CAWBOURNE TINA soon after the start and CAWBOURNE TINA lost four lengths and stayed back to finish at the rear. HOMEBUSH SARGE shifted out from the rail on the bend and checked SLATERS MATE who lost three lengths .
Race 5	Morrie Gibbons Signs C1 - C1 - 520	All clear.
Race 6	Palamountains Nutrition C1 - C1 - 305	THRILLING IRIS was very slow to begin losing several lengths and she then ran very wide on the bend and into the straight and finished in last place. CAWBOURNE HARVEY and REECE LIGHTNING were the leading dogs going into the bend but they collided losing several lengths and finished in 4th and 5th places.
Race 7	Mickey's Super Liquor C1 - C1 - 305	CAWBOURNE SMUDGE was very slow to begin losing several lengths and he stayed back to finish in the rear group. WAIRERE MIRACLE shifted out from the start and raced wide on the track and forced ASK SIX wide over extra ground when entering the home straight and they finished at the rear.
Race 8	Wanganui Security C1 - C1 - 305	PENIES FROM shifted in from the start and crowded SHOWTIME ADDIS, HOMEBUSH JEM, GLENADDIS and SINGLE SCULLER who all lost ground. SINGLE SCULLER shifted out on the first corner and this movement resulted in checks to GLENADDIS, HOMEBUSH JEN and SHOWTIME ADDIS. GLENADDIS recovered the best and she made up ground to finish in 3rd place with the other three runners finishing in the rear group.
Race 9	Keenan Concrete C1 - C1 - 520	BOTANY HORNET shifted in from the start and forced BIRCHGROVE BILLY across the heels of LOTTO PROFIT but he recovered quickly to race into 2nd place. He then went up outside the leader on the final bend but faltered and lost two to three lengths and only held his place from there to finish in 4th place. BIRCHGROVE BILLY was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury.
Race 10	Broad Roofing Services C1 - C1 - 305	LEVERAGE was slow to begin settling in last place and he never improved and finished in that position. JOLOKIA shifted in on the first corner and checked SISTER VIRTUE who lost three lengths and she then raced wide on the bend coverinng extra ground and finished in 2nd last place.
Race 11	Gary Ross Decorator C1 Feature - C1 - 305	ROTKARA JACKIE, BOTANY STORY and JULIE MAY jostled together for a few strides on the first corner and all three dogs lost a little ground. HAYLEYS WISH was checked and lost three lengths on the first corner.
Race 12	Media Works C1 Feature - C1 - 305	BINTY FLAHERTY was checked on the first corner and she went back to the rear and stayed back to finish in last place. MUM KNOWS JACK shifted out going into the bend and forced CRYSTAL BANNER out onto NUTS FOR SURE who lost three lengths in the incident.
