Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Race 7 was declared a 'no race' by Stewards after the lure came to a halt in the run home. This was caused by the lure losing power which occurred because of the extreme prevailing weather conditions. The remainder of the programme was put back one race to give the Club an opportunity to repair the problem. At 2.35pm the Lure was still in a state of disrepair with the Club unable to give Stewards any assurances that the lure could be repaired in a timely manner and to a level that was satisfactory. Accordingly, due to the Club being unable to give any assurance that the problem could be repaired in a timely manner, and provide a guarantee the lure would not fail again, the Stewards abandoned the meeting. Following on from this Stewards held consultation with the Club President, Secretary and Track Manager to discuss the issues that arose out of today's meeting. It was undertaken by the Club to report back to the Racing Integrity Unit within the next ten days and disclose the progress that had been made and the plans they will adopt to ensure this matter is resolved prior to the next meeting in August. The Club were advised that the lure must be tested extensively and vigorously prior to that meeting.

Race 1	ADDED ENERGY WELCOME - C0 - 457	OLD OZARK, GO CARTER and FIXER MCKAY were both slow over the initial stages. OLD OZARK ran wide on the bend. The winner PHARLEY was forced to check off the heels of SECRET NICOLE in the run home.
Race 2	WILLY'S FLOORING LTD - C1 - 390	RED TIGER was slow over the early stages. FOGGY STORM was inspected by the Club's Vet and found to have sustained an injury at the lure when pulling up. This dog was stood down for 10 days on account of a wound to it's second digit on the left fore foot.
Race 3	BRENDON BURKE @ SOUTHERNWIDE - C1 - 390	On the bend RISING MERCURY when racing in last position attempted to improve on the inside of WOOF INGILLTAB and in doing so made a very slight contact with the hind quarters of this dog. This contact appeared to startle WOOF INGILLTAB causing it to leap into the air which impeded the progress of RISING MERCURY.
Race 4	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C2 - 457	KINGSTON FLYER shifted out racing into the bend and caused a slight check to MOLLY PATRON who in turn hampered WAVE YA HAND and HOMEBUSH FRASER.
Race 5	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 457	SEISMIC STORM was slow over the initial stages of the race. Into the bend SERAPHINE JEWEL ran outwards and in doing so carted MR. MEADE wider.
Race 6	ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C5 - 390	WICHITA LINEMAN was slow to begin. Racing towards the first bend WATERHOUSE was hampered when racing between ASK THE BANDIT and SISSI. WATERHOUSE lost momentum as a result of this and issued resultant checks to MUSTARD FUDGE and KATE LEIGH. ASK THE BANDIT was carried from the lure to the kennels and inspected by the Clubs Vet. This examination revealed a laceration over the hind hock which was treated. This dog was stood down for a period of 14 days.
Race 7	COLORMARK SYSTEMS LTD - C4 - 390	Stewards declared this race to be null and void after the lure failed in the run home. The cause of the lure failure was found to be mechanical which in itself was caused by the prevailing extreme weather. Stewards ordered that the programme be put back initially one race then again further, affording the club an extensive opportunity to rectify the problem. This was unable to be done.
