Judicial report: An inquiry was opened and adjourned into the circumstances in relation to the late scratching of SOUTHERN EIGHTY from race 5.

Race 1 Awapuni Stakes C0 - C0 - 457 The winner VISIONARY MAN was one of the slowest to begin but made up ground quickly to lead going into the bend. He then ran wide into the straight but continued a strong run to win to win the race. DOUBLE TAPP, BREAKING MELODY and RONAN MACHALL jostled together for several strides in the run toi the first corner and all three lost ground.
Race 2 Marton Dash C1 - C1 - 375 The favourite THRILLING HALO was slow to begin losing three lengths but she made up ground well to finish in 3rd place. HOMEBUSH ALEX checked off the heels of CLASSY HOLLY on the first corner and lost three lengths but ran on well from there to finish 4th. RHYME IN MELODY ran wide on the bend covering extra ground and finished well back.
Race 3 Hokowhitu Sprint C1 - C1 - 375 This race started 2 minutes late due to a dog having to be strapped on one leg prior to racing. WHERE'S WALLY and PETROL VOUCHER collided soon after the start and settled at the rear. WHERE'S WALLY, PETROL VOUCHER and MELODY'S MUSE then raced wide covering extra ground and they finished in the last three places.
Race 4 Peter Sinclair Stakes C1 - C1 - 457 BIRCHGROVE BILLY was slow to begin losing two lengths but he recovered to win the race. BIRCHGROVE BILLY was observed to be limping following the race and he was examined by the Vet who reported that the dog had an old injury which caused it to limp on hard surfaces but no stand down was required.
Race 5 GEON Wellington C2 - C2 - 375 PARRA SPARRA and HOMEBUSH TAYLOR collided soon after the start and HOMEBUSH TAYLOR lost ground. HOMEBUSH TAYLOR and DOING THE TIME collided on the first corner when racing at the rear and they stayed back to finish in the last two places.
Race 6 Woodville Stakes C1/2 - C1/2 - 457 LOUIE MACHALL and IN OR OUT collided and jostled together for several strides in the race to the first corner and they lost several lengths and all chance and finished in the last two places.
Race 7 Pahiatua Dash C2/3 - C2/3 - 375 WITCHALICIOUS was slow to begin losing four lengths but she recovered to finish well for 2nd placing. CATCH A DREAM wanted to race away from the rail and when moving out caused jostling to IGNTE THE LIGHT and LOW AND HIGHS. As a result LOW AND HIGHS and CATCH A DREAM both lost ground.
Race 8 Shannon Stakes C3/4 - C3/4 - 457 CATCH A PUNTA raced onto the heels of MISSING MELODY on the first corner and lost ground. He then raced wide covering extra ground on the bend and finished in last place.
Race 9 Foxton Dash C4 - C4 - 375 FLAG WAVER was a little slow to begin and soon after ERIC PHOENIX shifted in and checked CAWBOURNE MO and FLAG WAVER. Soon after, JENNINGS shifted in and checked KERRY'S DELIGHT, SCAMPER CLAIR, MOLLY DARLING and ROYAL PARDON who all lost ground. On the first corner, MOLLY DARLING shifted out and checked SCAMPER CLAIR and KERRY'S DELIGHT who went back to the rear.
Race 10 Fielding Dash C5 - C5 - 375 JUST DEFY THAT shifted in from the start and checked MISSY OCTANE, SEMENYA and DADDY LOWE who all lost ground and settled at the rear. DADDY LOWE and SEMENYA recovered to finish in 3rd and 4th places but MISSY OCTANE stayed back and finished last. The winner KAZZ RAZZ was advised as a swab but due to confusion in the call, the 2nd dog BERELLA CHELSEA was presented at the swab kennel instead and was subsequently released on the instruction of the Steward in charge.
Race 11 Manawatu Raceway Dash C4/5 - C4/5 - 375 BOTANY BARB was checked back to the rear racing to the first corner when runners drawn further out shifted in. BOTANY BARB was agaiin checked on the bend and she never recovered and finished in last place.
Race 12 www.racingdogs.co.nz C5 - C5 - 457 One of the favourites I'M READY was crowded from the outside soon after the start and dropped out to last but he secured a clear run through the field and finished very well for 3rd placing.
