Track: Good At the start of Race 9 (520m) the starting box lids failed to open as the lure passed. The race was rerun using the manual lid release. An investigation into the cause of the malfunction showed that the sensor on the running rail had sent a signal through to the electric magnets on the lid, but that one side of the lid (8 box) had opened fractionally early causing the lid to twist and not open. There had been a problem with the lids at the 520m on 31st March when they had also failed to open due to twisting as a result of earthquake damage to the concrete pad under the starting boxes. Stewards approved the use of the manual opening for the remainder of the meeting after Race 9, but requested that the club fully check the mechanism prior to the next race meeting and test the lids thoroughly.

Race 2	Challenge Opawa All Up Sprint - C0 - 295	ANY VICES, FLUKY LUCY and SAWMILLER were slow to jump. Into the turn ANY VICES crossed and tightened FIVE OF HEARTS who went back through the field and never recovered.
Race 3	Sensative Harry At Stud Stakes - C0 - 520	LEO'S GIRL was slow to jump and lost several lengths. From the jump ANOTHER MATE ran sharply inwards and checked HOMEBUSH BERNIE. On the first turn WALK DA TORQUE ran out and forced LILY JEWEL and EACH AND EVERY wide. Into the home straight HOMEBUSH BERNIE and EACH AND EVER came together several times with both dogs losing momentum. At the lure MISS BUTANE fell heavily and was subject to a veterinary check which revealed no injury.
Race 4	www.racingdogs.co.nz Sprint - C1 - 295	From the jump CALINDA shifted downwards causing a check to PROTEST LINE. On the turn CALINDA shifted outwards contacting BEAT THE FOURCHE impeding her progress. After the race HOMEBUSH KALAMA was subject to a Veterinary check which revealed a split to the front right centre web with a 14 day stand down recommended.
Race 5	Kolorful Kanvas Maiden Final - C0f - 520	ANYTIME WILL DO crossed the field sharply after release and in doing so moved ANOTHER STAR down the track onto OPAWA JACK and HONKING HORNS with all three of these runners receiving significant checks. After this incident OPAWA JACK shifted outwards turning HOMEBUSH FRASER sideways which in turn caused a check to the following HALF THROTTLE.
Race 6	Coaster's Tavern Sprint - C0 - 295	OHOKA SUMMER and JAFFA GUN were slow to begin. MOGADISHU ran outwards after the start causing interference to HUSKER DU and VISUAL ILLUSION. Racing around the turn HOMEBUSH JEM shifted down the track stiking the rear of HUSKER DU and in doing so lost its momentum and tailed off.
Race 7	Garrard's Horse And Hound Stakes - C1 - 520	After the start FOGGY STORM shifted outwards causing checks to both DUDLEY RAMA and SMOOCHA. Racing towards the first bend ANOTHER BREEZE shifted down the track causing a check to TOMMY TEALEAF who faltered and in doing so checked MEDIVAC who also stumbled with LEENY TITLE receiving a check as a result of this interference.
Race 8	Steak Meal Night 14 April Dash - C1 - 295	In the run to the turn RUN PATCHES RUN lost ground when he clipped the rear of WILLY'S PRIDE who was crossing from an outside draw.
Race 9	Murray@Re/Max Real Estate Ph 3715005 Stakes - C1 - 520	The lids of the starting box did not open on the first pass of the lure. The dogs were removed from the starting boxes and given a veterinary clearance before the race was restarted some 6 minutes after the official start time. The lids had failed to open when a signal to the electric magnets had resulted in one side (box 8) opening fractionally before the other side of lids and causing the malfunction. The lids were then opened manually for this race and for the following 520m races. In the race itself EMIE ROSE ran outwards from the jump checking DRUMS and MERMAN JEWEL. Into the first turn HOMEBUSH NICK crossed causing EMIE ROSE to check outwards and push MERMAN JEWEL wide.
Race 10	Amber Cleaning Services Stakes - C1 - 520	Due to the delay in the previous race this event was officially delayed two minutes by the TAB. As a result of the difficulties experienced starting with the 520m boxes this event was started by means of hand opening release. Race all clear.
Race 11	Wizelee At Stud Dash - C2 - 295	SLATER'S MATE shifted inwards after release contacting WEE RAZZ and causing a slight check.
Race 12	Yaldhurst Tavern Feature - SPECA - 520	PRETTY GIRL drifted outwards after release contacting SUPERIOR RANK. NINA'S GIRL raced wide racing into the first bend. Entering the back straight PRETTY GIRL checked off SOFIA'S GIRL and shifted outwards forcing IT'S NOT EASY and NINA'S GIRL wider on the track. NINA'S GIRL again raced very wide on the final turn. EL KILDA after racing towards the front dropped away prior to entering the home straight.
Race 13	Be Back Tuesday Sprint - C1 - 295	INGA THE WINGA received contact from both COOL'S THE TUNE, on its outside, and TEPIRITA ACE, on its inside, after the start. On the final turn PETROL VOUCHER stumbled when attempting to check off the heels of MRS PATCH.
Race 14	Dave & Jean Fahey Dash - C1 - 295	Racing into the first turn EVE HILL ran outwards causing CHARLI CLANG to contact HOMEBUSH BAKUGAN which resulted in CHARLI CLANG losing ground.
Race 15	Speight's Sprint - C2 - 295	BRUNO began poorly. Prior to leaving the back straight CHASIN' CROWS checked off the heels of HOMEBUSH LENNY and briefly lost momentum. On the turn CHASIN' CROWS shifted outwards off the heels of LES HART and in doing so caused interference to both BRUNO and CULVI CORGI
