Into the bend MSHINDI and ALLBLACK ENFORCE both received tightening in the middle of runners with ALLBLACK ENFORCE receiving a severe check and dropping to the rear. HOLLALICIOUS ran wide into this bend and pushed MSHINDI wide with both runners losing ground. |
| Race 2 | Greyhounds North Maiden Series Heat - C0d - 650 | This race ran two minutes late due to a delay in setting up the distance boxes. CATCH A PENNIE ran wide into the back straight pushing THRILLING MAVIS even wider with both dogs losing ground. |
| Race 3 | YGOT Bonus Scheme Sprint - C0 - 375 | AGENT VICTOR was tightened along the inside and checked losing ground. He then checked outwards off TOP CAT pushing TUI'S PLEASE and ZULU wider around the bend. |
| Race 4 | Superior Chunky Dog Rolls Sprint - C3/4 - 375 | FIND PEDRO, WINSOME JAMES and WHERE'S JOHN CEE were all slow to jump with FIND PEDRO losing ground into the bend and dropping to the rear. |
| Race 5 | Te Awamutu Self Storage Distance - C1/2d - 650 | BONNIE BOUCHEA jumped well from the inside but was then tightened into the first bend and dropped to the rear. THRILLING REIGN and OPAWA PATTY came together for a stride early in the home straight. |
| Race 6 | Group 1 NZ Derby Heat 1 - R/Aq - 457 Heat 1 | THRILLING BOSS was last to jump. SAM I AM was tightened soon after the jump. ASTON RED received a check into the bend while wider out THRILLING BOSS checked off the back of CAWBOURNE STARS with JOHN DEED being inconvenienced and losing ground as a result. |

METICULOUS, MR JAZZ MAN, KNOW EXCITEMENT, DECADENT and MOODY MAN with these dogs losing any realistic winning hopes at this stage. |

On the home turn RUMSFEILD ran wide pushing THRILLING BRAT wider with both dogs losing ground. When balanced they both finished well in the middle of the track to quinella the race. |
| Race 9 | Group 1 NZ Derby Heat 4 - R/Aq - 457 Heat 4 | WINSOME FLASH was the last to jump and then ran very wide on the home turn when attempting to improve. FIREMAN'S SALUTE was tightened and ran outwards coming together with OLLIE FONZ into the bend with FIREMAN'S SALUTE losing ground as a result. |
