Track: Good There were a number of quite large stones appearing on the track during the day and obviously coming to the surface during grooming. The Club Management have undertaken to discuss this with the sand supplier in an endeavour to rectify this problem prior to the next meeting.

Race 1 Awapuni Stakes C0 - C0 - 457 CONOR MACHALL shifted out soon after the start forcing MICKEY MACHALL out and they raced wide on the track until shifting back in on the first corner.
Race 2 GEON Wellington C0 - C0 - 375 SOUTHERN EIGHTY ran in from the start and came together with KATIE HAKA causing a check to that runner. On the first corner SOUTHERN EIGHTY came across on to HOMEBUSH TINA who was pushed over on the heels of WAIWERE MIRACLE who stumbled and lost ground and HOMEBUSH TINA also lost ground in the incident and they finished at the rear.
Race 3 Peter Sinclair Photos C1 - C1 - 375 GLENORCHY and BIGTIME PAL were slow to begin losing three lengths. GLENORCHY appeared to suffer an injury near the first corner and drifted back to eventually finish a long last and he was examined by the Vet and stood down for 28 days with a gracilus muscle injury. PIN UP PUPPY shifted out on the bend and made contact with BIGTIME PAL who fell and he was also examined by the Vet and euthanased due to suffering from a fractured back.
Race 4 Foxton Dash C1/2 - C1/2 - 375 The winner BACK AT YA raced at Wanganui on 01.04.11 and was handy in that race but faded over the final stages to finish 7th after being galloped on and suffering grazing but did not need a stand down. Today BACK AT YA began very well and was always in the clear and won with ease.
Race 5 Cloverlea Stakes C1 - C1 - 457 LOTTO FUN and NIGEL THE LEGIN came together and jostled for several strides on the first cornner and they both lost ground and finished at the rear. NIGEL THE LEGIN was examined by the vet and stood down for 7 days with a minor toe injury.
Race 6 Hokowhitu Dash C2 - C2 - 375 HOMEBUSH WARRIOR who had won three days previous at Wanganui was the slowest to begin today and although he did make up some ground, he still finished in 6th place. The connections were questioned but could offer no explanation and the dog was examined by the Vet and stood down for 10 days with latissimus dorsi and pectoral muscle injuries.
Race 7 www.racingdogs.co.nz C5 - C5 - 375 CAULDRON who had received very interrupted runs at its last two starts had a clear run in front today and won well. CALYPSO RUMBLE began awkwardly losing three lengths.
Race 8 Riverdale Dash C3/4 - C3/4 - 375 LOW AND HIGHS shifted in on the first corner and caused checks to DANCING POWER and BOMBER MAN who both lost ground and they stayed back to finish at the rear.
Race 9 Manawatu Raceway Stakes C2/3 - C2/3 - 457 KILMAINHAM CHILL was slow to begin losing five lengths and he could not make up the lost ground and finished in 5th place.
Race 10 Turakina Dash C4 - C4 - 375 ROADMAN'S SHACK and NIP TUCK were slow to begin losing three lengths. NIP TUCK then ran wide over extra ground on the bend but finished well for 3rd placing. CAWBOURNE WHIZ shifted in on the first corner and checked BILLY WHIZ who went back and out and galloped on the back of ERIC PHOENIX who lost several lengths and went back to last and stayed there. BILLY WHIZ recovered to finish in 4th place.
Race 11 Shannon Dash C5 - C5 - 375 One of the favourites SEMENYA was a little slow to begin from box 8 and she was obliged to race a little wide and was checked from behind by CAWBOURNE JOSE approaching the home turn and finished in 2nd last place. Another well supported runner CIAO FOR NOW was also a little slow to begin and was jostled when racing between KINGA MIKE and CAWBOURNE JOSE on the bend, went back to last and finished in that position.
Race 12 Woodville Dash C3 - C3 - 375 FLOATING AWAY who had won at its last start was a little slow to begin and then had to check over the heels of ULTIMATE SPICE on the first corner losing ground and then ran wide over extra ground on the bend and finished in last place. ULTIMATE SPICE who was well supported, started from box 8 and was forced to race wide throughout over extra ground but finished reasonably well for 5th placing.
