Stipendiary Stewards Report

Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club

Addington Raceway ON THURSDAY 31 Mar 2011

Weather: Cloudy
Track: Good Following the non activation of the lids for Race 5, the Active Electrical Christchurch Ltd Stakes, the club electrician Graham Van Tongeren examined the 520 metre boxes. The lids were tested a number of times after the initial failure and that revealed the same intermittent fault on two occasions. Closer inspection showed the concrete pad under the boxes to have cracked and moved during the recent earthquakes and aftershocks. They had activated without problem when tested prior to the meeting as well as at recent club trials. It was established that the lids were not opening simultaneously causing the inside to stick. The lids will be repaired prior to the meeting on 1 April 2011.
Scales: Correct at 25kgs
Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: The Starter P SCOTT was reminded of his obligations in ensuring that the race dogs were under his control and at the start prior to the advertised race start times as a result of lateness in reaching the 520 metre boxes for Race 5.
