Health and Safety comment:
Judicial report: RUN FOR US completed a satisfactory trial under Rule 80.10 at the trials on Monday 28 March. Trainer A Bowen was fined $100.00 under the Minor Infringements Table after he admitted a breach of Rule 69.11 when WILLEE WINDSOR weighted in at 31.0 kgs which was 1.8 kgs above its last race weight on 24 March 2011. Trainer B Goldsack was given a first and final warning after being late to kennel his dog for Race 8. Handler Mrs P Schofield was warned in relation to language used after
Race 1. The Stewards accepted that in this case there were some mitigating circumstances but Mrs Schofield was informed that a repeat would not be tolerated.

Race 1 | 0800 4 Down Cow Sprint - C1 - 375 | All clear. At the lure PUNK DINO and MSHINDI fell with HICCUP lunging at them as they were on the ground. Handler Mike Lozell was able to restrain the dog quickly and no injuries were reported to the dogs. Following consultation with Trainer K Maisey it was agreed that two catchers would be present at HICCUP'S immediate starts to ensure that the dog would be captured quickly and at no risk to other greyhounds. |
Race 2 | Kirstie McGrail @ Harcourts Sprint - C0 - 375 | HIT DA NOS and PAMPEST were both tightened into the bend losing ground with WHATA LADY checking off runners soon after and dropping to the rear. |
Race 3 | Interislander Sprint - C1 - 375 | TRIPLEM HAND was slow to jump and remained well back throughout. Trainer Carol Derecourt was questioned in regards to the improved performance of the winner OKAYS BENAYOUN. She reported that the dog has had a brief spell and has only just joined her kennels and thought that the spell may have been beneficial to the dog. |
Race 4 | John Lamont Contracting LTD Stakes - C1 - 457 | SPECIAL PROJECT moved out slightly in the back straight resulting in SEEING EXCUSES clipping heels and falling. He completed the course with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. LOOSE GENIUS and CLASSY FORT were tightened and lost ground into the bend with CLASSY FORT running wide into the home straight. He ran on well late for fourth. |
Race 5 | Greyhounds North Maiden Distance Series Final - C0df - 650 | BINGO STARR was checked on the first bend as THRILLING QUEST crossed from its outside. BINGO STARR then ran outwards with FREDDY JOHN and STRIKE ONCE being inconvenienced for a few strides. Following the race MISS JETSUN was found to have a wound on a toe requiring sutures with a fourteen day stand down recommended. |
Race 6 | Presland Tocker Insurance Services Sprint - C2 - 375 | BEAR CUB was tightened soon after the jump and dropped to the rear. On the bend WILLEE WINDSOR checked outwards off THRILLING LEE and lost a few lengths. |
Race 7 | Simplifood Stakes - C1/2 - 457 | THRILLING ALERT was checked when racing wide into the first bend and lost some ground settling at the rear. |
Race 8 | Superior Chunky Dog Rolls Sprint - C5 - 375 | THRILLING ALERT was checked when racing wide on the track into the bend and lost ground. A post race veterinary check revealed a wound to left hind over toes with a fourteen day stand down recommended. |
Race 9 | General Engravers Sprint - C1 - 375 | All clear. As a result of an incident at the lure SAMBO WARRIOR was subject of a post race veterinary check that revealed a dog bite over the left gastrocnemius muscle resulting in a small puncture wound. A seven day stand down was recommended. |
Race 10 | YGOT Bonus Scheme Sprint - C4 - 375 | MATILDA'S BEST was a clear last to jump but made ground well for his second placing. Favourite ASSEGAI received a slight check as BLUE JEAN ALICE crossed him with ASSEGAI losing a length and REGAL TENT and ROTOVEGAS GIRL losing ground as well. FANCY SPIDER was forced wide around the bend to avoid these runners. |
Race 11 | White and Moreland LTD Sprint - C3 - 375 | ASCENDING FORCE was last to jump and BOTANY ADAM was tightened soon after dropping to the rear. The favourite MOODY MAN received a slight check on the home bend that caused him to lose momentum. He ran on fairly for fifth. |
Race 12 | Protector Safety Stakes - C3/4 - 457 | MINT OCTANE was last away making ground late to be close up at the line. GLORIANNA was checked by JOHN DEED in the back straight and dropped out to the rear. The pacemaking HONG KONG LOUIE ran wide into the home straight and lost some ground. |
