Race 1 Allied Work Force 0800 Labour C1 - C1 - 305 THRILLING LYRIC shifted in running to the first corner and checked HAPPY CLAPPY who lost a couple of lengths. On the first corner, LITTLE RIDDLE came away from the rail and caused checks to itself and also JUST TOM, HOMEBUSH CECIL and HAPPY CLAPPY and they lost four lengths and finished in the last four places. MINI DEAN galloped on the heels of THRILLING LYRIC on the home turn and lost two lengths but held on to finish in 4th place.
Race 2 Harrison Hire Master C1 - C1 - 520 WHO'S YA DUFFER was slow to begin losing five lengths. He then showed speed to race into the body of the field on the first bend but RUN BROADY RUN checked off the back of SHEZA RATBAG and moved out sharply and colliding with WHO'S YA DUFFER with both dogs losing four lengths and all chance of a first four placing. The winner I'M READY was observed to be lame at the pulling up area and was sent for a veterinary examination where he was found to have suffered tearing of triceps muscle behind shoulder joint with a 14 day stand down recommended
Race 3 Guthrie Bowron C2 - C2 - 305 VIOLET JAZZ began very awkwardly losing five lengths and she stayed back throughout and finished in last place.
Race 4 Crombie Lockwood (NZ) Ltd C2/3 - C2/3 - 520 The favourite KILMAINHAM CHILL was slow to begin losing three lengths. KIWARA TREY shifted in on the first corner and this resulted in checks to SABRE DANCE, KID DELANEY, BONNIE BOUCHEA and KILMAINHAM CHILL who all lost varying amounts of ground. The only two runners not affected in the incident were the winner PRETTY SECRET and the 2nd dog THRILLING LEWIS.
Race 5 Couper Catering C2 - C2 - 305 HOMEBUSH DUSTY and CAWBOURNE DARCY were handy to the leaders going into the bend but were checked losing four lengths and they finished well back.
Race 6 Morriew Gibbons Signs C3 - C3 - 305 IMA SPICE drew box 8 and shifted in on the first corner and checked ASHBY ELLY who went back and out onto POUTAMA RAMA and they lost four lengths and stayed back to finish at the rear.
Race 7 Palamountains Nutrition C2 - C2 - 520 The clear 2nd favourite EXCUSE A VISION jumped on terms with the other runners and was slightly tightened on the first corner when KERRY'S DELIGHT shifted in. It appeared that its galloping action was not correct soon after and she dropped out to race several lengths behind the 2nd last dog for the remainder of the race and was examined by the Vet and stood down for 14 days with wrist pain
Race 8 Mickeys Super Liquor C3 - C3 - 305 MAGIC TEMPTRESS began very awkwardly losing several lengths and she tailed the field throughout the race. The favourite TOM FINN was also slow to begin but secured a clear run through to win the race. OUR PLAYBOY was handy to the first corner but was checked back to near the rear when runners drawn further out shifted in.
Race 9 Broad Roofing Services C5 - C5 - 305 SEMENYA jumped out at the start and checked LOW AND HIGHS who went back last and stayed there throughout. OPAWA MEGASTAR and SEMENYA collided on the first corner and both lost ground and all chance of a placing and finished in the rear group.
Race 10 Keenan Concrete Wanganui C4/5 - C4/5 - 520 NIP TUCK and the favourite BIGTIME GEM began well but collided in the run to the first corner and both ran a little wide around the first bend and dropped back to mid field. BIGTIME GEM had every chance from there but only battled to finish in 4th place. NIP TUCK began to drift back starting on the final bend, ran very wide into the home straight and finished several lengths last. She was examined by the Vet and found to have superficial grazing to a leg but no stand down was required.
Race 11 Gary Ross Decorator C4 - C4 - 305 THRILLING GRIT was one of the slowest to begin and settled in last place. He was then jostled for several strides when ROYAL MINTY shifted out on the first corner and THRILLING GRIT was forced wide over extra ground on the bend and finished in last place.
Race 12 Wanganui Security Services C4 - C4 - 305 The favourite CIAO FOR NOW was the slowest to begin and then clipped the heels of BRADMAN'S WILLOW on the first corner and went a little wide. He then moved down towards the rail but collded with BRADMAN'S WILLOW on the home turn with both dogs losing momentum and they finished at the rear.
