Incident Reports
Race Number | Race Name | Incident Report |
---|---|---|
Race 1 | Auckland Co-op Taxis Sprint - C3 - 318 | ASSEGAI, BARALLEN and BOTANY SHELLEY all came together in the early stages as BOTANY SHELLEY ran inwards. Soon after DOLLY SCRAMBLE ran outwards and collided with ASSEGAI and BARALLEN who lost more ground. |
Race 2 | www.agrc.co.nz Sprint - C0 - 318 | IMAGINATION was last away running on well for third. REFER TO RED ran inwards in the back straight with PAMPEST and BON VOGUE receiving tightening and losing ground. MY DIANE checked outwards off BIG LASS into the bend and lost ground. REFER TO RED proved difficult to box in this event. This dog's boxing manners will be monitored in its next few starts. |
Race 3 | Bethells Farmstay for dogs on Facebook Sprint - C1 - 318 | FRIZZLE FRAZZLE and SHARKIE'S DREAM were both slow to jump. Favourite JULIA NORRIS was badly tightened between THRILLING SNOW and ON MY MIND after 50 metres and lost ground with ON MY MIND also receiving a check at this stage and dropping to the rear. JULIA NORRIS then came together with THRILLING SNOW on the turn when attempting to improve and lost more ground. She finished seventh 12 lengths from the winner with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. Kennel representative Ingrid Archer told Stewards that the dog is not a quick beginner so can strike trouble in the initial stages of the race as was the case in this event. |
Race 4 | Carols TABS Sprint - C4/5 - 318 | KISSIN KATE checked off the back of KYLE IZMIR into the bend and lost ground. The starter reported that LIGHTS AND MUSIC appeared to strike the running rail into the bend losing ground. This was unable to be confirmed due to no head on view being available but the dog was sent for a post race veterinary check as a precaution that revealed no injury. The favourite KYLE IZMIR was handy throughout but was unable to catch the winner MATANUSKA. Trainer Paul Freeman expressed some disappointment in the effort stating that he thought the dog should have got closer in the run home. |
Race 5 | Ashford Boarding Kennels and Cattery Sprint - C1 - 318 | In a tightly compact field UTAR JET and AUSTIN WILD came together and lost ground towards the end of the back straight. |
Race 6 | Reel-Fishin.com Sprint - C2/3 - 318 | Favourite WINSOME BUSTER was last to jump. WINSOME BUSTER and WILLEE WINDSOR were both badly held up into the bend when attempting to improve losing their chances. When questioned in regards to the run of the favourite WINSOME BUSTER kennel representative Ingrid Archer stated that she was very surprised that the dog was favourite as he has no real box speed and is better suited to middle distance racing. |
Race 7 | $15,000 Pick6 Sprint - C4 - 318 | CORPORAL JONES was the slowest to jump. The favourite AIN'T NO SAINT was badly tightened in the run to the bend dropping to the rear. WEE PING DOLL dipped for a stride into the bend when appearing to strike the rail and lost ground with WHAT'S SHE PAYNE having to change ground to get around her. This caused AIN'T NO SAINT to be badly checked again with PUNK SCOOTER and BUT WHY NOT being forced wide and losing ground. Post race veterinary checks were carried out on WEE PING DOLL and AIN'T NO SAINT with AIN'T NO SAINT having biceps muscle pain with a ten day stand down recommended. WEE PING DOLL was clear of injury. |
Race 8 | McGhie Plumbing Stakes - C1 - 527 | SIPPIN TEQUILA was last to jump. |
Race 9 | NZRS Middle Distance Final - NZRSf - 527 | Favourite APATCHE JET was checked on the first bend as THRILLING TALE was tightened outwards due checking off HAILEY'S AGENT. OPAWA FLYER was forced wide as a result. APATCHE JET was contained in midfield thereafter. Kennel representative Alan Williams stated that the dog is best when in front and with the early check was unable to get the lead. He also stated that the inter-island travelling may have taken the edge off the dog and that he will not be returning for Auckland Cup heats. |
Race 10 | Magness Benrow Sprint - C4/5 - 318 | NATURAL JOURNEY was presented 3.1 kgs under his last race on 6 January. This dog was passed fit to race by the Veterinary Surgeon with Trainer Phil Green advising that the weight loss was planned. REALON RAPTURE and FANCY SPIDER came together soon after the jump. Into the bend MAGICATE cannoned into MY JACK ATTACK and lost a few lengths recovering for fifth. The favourite MY JACK ATTACK was a touch slow from the inside but made ground well to be only 1.8 lengths behind the winner at the line in second place. Trainer Mike Lozell stated that he was very pleased with the run. |
Race 11 | Huntly RSA Stakes - C2/3 - 527 | MACHIN SHIN and MADDER THAN were slow to jump. Into the first bend the favourite SMOKIN' ICHIBAN was tightened for a stride and lost ground as MACHIN SHIN crossed from his outside. SMOKIN' ICHIBAN made ground stylishly late to run the winner to a length. Kennel representative Kathy Wilson stated that she was impressed with the run this being the dogs first start on the track. |
Race 12 | Jack's Wholesale Meats Sprint - C1 - 318 | BIT OF VISION was last to jump. CYCLONE HOOLEY, VIBURNUM and BIT OF VISION were all tightened and lost ground into the bend with WINSOME KELLY receiving a slight check in this incident. CAPTAIN RICHIE ran very wide on the home turn and lost ground. Favourite JULIE MAY led into the bend but was run down finishing fifth.
