Judicial report: DUKE OF FERN (LH Anderton) was a late scratching on race morning at 9.16am, due to a failure in process within the club office. The scratching was advised by telephone by trainer Anderton during the race meeting on Thursday 3 February 2011, with that information not being received by the Club Manager until 9.16am on Friday 4 February 2011. The club was advised to improve proceedures given the weekly back to back meetings. No further action was warranted due to this being an isolated incident.
An inquiry under Rule 68 was opened and adjourned into the late kennelling during the 3rd kennelling by trainer L Waretini, pending further inquiries.

Race 1	Super Pets Dash - C1 - 295	PETROL VOUCHER was slow to jump. ELOUERA BABE abd MEANDER came together in the run to the bend tightening LOVELY HAND and ALL AGAINST ME. Into the straight PETROL VOUCHER and MEANDER came together before ALL AGAINST ME ran into the rear of PETROL VOUCHER when racing at the rear.
Race 2	Challenge Opawa All Up Sprint - C0 - 295	LADY McCRACKEN ran in after the jump colliding with MAN OH MAN and BIG DADDY ECHO. Soon after JET SPARK ran inwards tightening LADY McCRACKEN, MAN OH MAN and BIG DADDY ECHO. BAD BOY TIGER ran outwards after the jump running very wide around the bend.
Race 3	Sensative Harry At Stud Stakes - C1 - 520	Into the first bend DEVOTCHKA and TOKEN RAGE came together with TOKEN RAGE coming back on TOMMY TEALEAF.
Race 4	Clarkson Sign Studio Dash - C0 - 295	HURRY HOME moved outwards after the jump checking PIGALLE and PARRA SPARRA. Soon after JOHNNIE GEORGE drove down towards the rail tightening OH EMM EYE. Into the straight SHARI JEWEL checked out off the hindquarters of HOMEBUSH TAYLOR.
Race 5	Carol's TAB Maiden Stakes - C0q - 520 Heat 1	JIMMY HAKA was slow to jump with KNOW SURPRISE running wide soon after the jump. CALINDA eased between dogs into the first bend coming back on THUNDA THIGHS. Soon after MOGADISHU ran outwards colliding with KNOW SURPRISE. The favourite BILLY DABYNE drove to the lead into the first bend however drifted out across the top bend to finish well back. A veterinary check revealed nothing amiss. Trainer MJ Flipp confirmed that BILLY DABYNE would revert to sprint distances at forthcoming race starts. CALINDA was vetted and found free of injury. Trainer LH ANDERTON was shown the race film, with Stewards deeming CALINDA'S performance to be unsatisfactory. A satisfactory Trial was ordered under Rule 81.
Race 6	Garrard's Horse & Hound Sprint - C1 - 295	Both GEM'S LAST and OKUKU BOMBER were slow to jump. CRASH GYBE was very slow to jump.
Race 7	Carol's TAB Maiden Stakes - C0q - 520 Heat 2	CANDY HAKA and SLATER'S MATE were slow to jump. Around the first bend DUCHESS MAKAYLA ran outwards onto GO CARTER, SLATER'S MATE and CANDY HAKA who all lost ground.
Race 8	Flair Sprint - C1 - 295	TEMPTING OFFER and NOBLE ENFORCER were slow to jump. SMASH KINGDOM was tightened between KNOW TURBO and FRITO BANDITO soon after the jump. Into the bend FRITO BANDITO moved outwards tightening TEMPTING OFFER and NOBLE ENFORCER and forcing SMASH KINGDOM wide..
Race 9	David Emerson Consultancy Stakes - C1 - 520	DUKE OF FERN (LH Anderton) was a late scratching at 9.16am on race day. It was established that Anderton had presented the dog for a veterinary examination on track on Thursday 3 February 2011, and had telephone the club at approximately 8.00pm that evening to advise of the scratching which was taken by the raceday secretary P LOW. She recorded the message on note paper and left it on the Club Manager's desk, however the Manager T Music did not find the message until race morning when he immediately notified Raceday Control. MIGHTY PROPHET was slow to jump settling last. Around the first bend COOL GORDIE and CAWBOURNE INDY came together losing ground before MERMAN JEWEK ran out forcing STATE DA OBVIOUS wide. Into the back straight MIGHTY PROPHET struck the hindquarters of COOL JORDIE falling as a result. CAWBOURNE INDY was turned sideways as a result of the incident into the path of MERMAN JEWEL losing more ground. Into the straight COOL JORDIE and CAWBOURNE INDY collided when racing at the rear. MIGHTY PROPHET and CAWBOURNE INDY was vetted and both found free of injury.
Race 10	Hampden Tavern Dash - C1 - 295	KNOW HELP and BOTANY TOM were slow to jump. Into the bend THATS COOL ran wide taking GEORGIE LEE into the path of KNOW HELP with all three being checked.
Race 11	Shirley Veterinary Centre Stakes - C1 - 520	HAYVILLE PRINCE and MEECES TO PIECES were slow to jump. Into the first bend UNDER COVER who was leading on the rail moved outwards tightening OHOKA BELLA, HOMEBUSH NICK and SHUNT APPEAL with OHOKA BELLA and SHUNT APPEAL falling. MEECES TO PIECES moved inwards to avoid the fallen dogs clipping the hindquarters of HAYVILLE PRINCE. SHUNT APPEAL regained his feet to finish the race with OHOKA BELLA taking no further part in the race. Both were subject to veterinary checks which revealed SHUNT APPEAL to be free of injury. OHOKA BELLA was found to have cramped up from the fall with a 10 day stand down recommended.
Race 12	Speight's Dash - C1 - 295	FOREVER WITHIN ran out after the jump coming in contact with CAWBOURNE ICE and being checked as a result. APATCHIE SCOTT and HOMEBUSH NESTOR came together after the jump. FOREVER WITHIN ran out around the bend taking APATCHIE SCOTT wide on the track.
