Judicial report: Mr DFahey, the co-trainer of OCTANE SPARK, who had been drawn into Race 9 a 545 metre race, had made application under Rule 64.5 to withdraw the greyhound. The application was made on 20 January 2011 on the grounds of the dog's welfare. Stewards reviewed the application in terms of Rule 64.2 to determine if there was a valid reason for withdrawal. It was noted that the dog had 43 starts with only one of these over middle distance and the dog had been incorrectly nominated for a middle distance. After consultation with the vet it was noted that travelling the greyhound to race over a middle distance would have placed undue stress on the animal and welfare was a valid reason for withdrawal. The dog was not due to race for over a week and no further action was required.

Into the turn OKUKU BOMBER when up near the lead ran sharply inwards and struck the running rail when free of intereference and lost all chance to finish at the rear. A post race veterinary check on OKUKU BOMBER revealed no injury.
Race 2	Green Island Barber Sprint - C0 - 310	BELFAST CHUKKA went up with the starting boxes and lost momentum. From the jump INDIGO DREAM ran inwards and collided with HURRY HOME. In the run to the turn BELFAST CHUKKA crossed to the rail and checked the running of INDIGO DREAM and SPIRAL EBONY. Into the turn OZARK'S CROWN checked off the rear of CLUTTERING and ran wide on the track.
Race 3	www.greyhoundsaspets.org.nz - C1 - 545	Shortly after the jump MOLLY PARTON was tightened between GEM'S LAST and HAYVILLE PRINCE stumbling and losing ground to lose all chance. After the race MOLLY PARTON was subject to a veterinary check which revealed soreness to the muscles in the left shoulder and hip with a 7 day stand down recommended.
Race 4	Brocklebanks Dry Cleaners Sprint - C1 - 310	From the jump TEMPTING OFFER ran inwards and checked SMASH KINGDOM. In the run to the turn BLACK TRIGGER checked off TEMPTING OFFER. Into the turn LADY PARKA was tightened when SMASH KINGDON ran outwards and lost ground, and OZARK'S COVER checked off the rear of BEAT THE FOURCHE.
Race 5	Herbert Family Stakes - C1/2 - 545	SUPERIOR RANK ran inwards from the jump and checked WHY WHY DELILAH. Into the turn BLACK SHELLEEN crossed and tightened KNOW BEST and THRILLING BUSTA with BOTANY GARETH running outwards to hold its line.
Race 6	Happy Birthday John Guthrie Sprint - C1 - 310	LIGHTNING FEVER was very slow to jump and lost all chance. In the run to the turn BARKING MAD and THRILLING CYBILL came together and lost momentum. Into the turn LIGHTNING FEVER checked off THRILLING CYBILL and forced HOMEBUSH TEX wide on the bend.
Race 7	CSL Containers Sprint - C3 - 310	SHEZA COOL ONE was tightened between HOMEBUSH BRUCE and RAISINS shortly after the jump. Into the turn WATUSI ASSASSIN checked off the rear of ASK THE BANDIT.
Race 8	Otago Trotting Owners & Trainers Assoc. Stakes - C3 - 545	From the jump TIAN HAO SURFER ran outwards and checked OCTANE AL. Into the turn SHAKIN' MARTINI crossed over from the outside and checked off OCTANE AL losing ground.
Race 9	Speedprint Shop Stakes - C4/5 - 545	SORRY VANDERFORD and WHAT A MATE were slow to jump and finished well back in the field.
Race 10	Herbert Family Sprint - C4 - 310	WODSTON BOBO, BOB BAXTER and VAMPIRES SHADOW were all slow to jump. Into the turn BONUS BOND pushed outwards checking GOTCHA LIFE and forcing WATTLE YOU BEE wide.
Race 11	Brian Bagley Driver Licensing Sprint - C5 - 310	MUSTARD FUDGE was very slow to jump and lost all chance finishing back in the field.
Race 12	Racing Again 22nd February Sprint - C2 - 310	In the run to the turn HONOUR ran outwards and checked the running of SURFIN' BIZAAR with both dogs losing ground to finish well back.
