Weather: Showery
Track: Heavy The track was very soft and slushy due to overnight rain. Following the failure of the lure during the running of Race 2 it was established by the Curator that a break in the conductor wire had caused the lure to stop. A new secton of wire was soldered onto the break with the lure operating without problem thereafter. The rail and wire was checked as is normal practice on the afternoon prior to the meeting.
Scales: Correct at 25kgs
Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: DR KINGSTON trainer of MOGIDISHU which was a Reserve in Race 1, was charged with a breach of Rule 63.10, in that he failed to withdraw the dog as required by the provisions of the Rule. The matter was adjourned to a further date due to KINGSTON not being at the race meeting. RD BLACKBURN trainer of WILLY MINA which was a Reserve in Race 7, was charged with a breach of Rule 63.10 in that she failed to withdraw the dog as required by the provisions of the Rule. She pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $150.00 in accordance with the NZGRA Minor Infringement Table.

Race 1	ADDED ENERGY WELCOME - C0 - 390	BELFAST CHUKKA was slow to jump. CEE CEE ARE ran outwards around the bend badly checking CLUTTERING before forcing JOHNNIE GEORGE wide into the straight. CEE CEE ARE was vetted and was found to have pain of flexion of the left fore elbow and shoulder with a 14 day stand down recommended.
Race 2	BRENDON BURKE @ SOUTHERNWIDE - C0 - 457	JET SPARK was tightened into the bend when vying for the lead. Around the bend EACH AND EVERY ran out off the heels of JET SPARK, checking MR.MEADE before colliding with WHAT WHERE WHEN which resulted in OZARK' S CROWN being forced wide. Approximately 100 metres from the finish the lure failed with the leading dog HOMEBUSH DIP catching it before being knocked to the ground by trailing dogs. He was subject to a veterinary check which revealed slight pain on full extension of the right elbow with no stand down recommended. Stewards deemed the race to be a "No Race" in terms of Rule 76.1.
Race 3	SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C1 - 390	This race was put back two minutes. Approaching the home turn THRILLING PEACH ran out from the rail checking FRITO BANDITO. Soon after BOTANY TOM collided with the hindquarters of MYRA BEE both losing ground. BOTANY TOM raced in tight quarters in the home straight before checking out off heels short of the finish.
Race 4	WILLY'S FLOORING LTD - C0 - 390	BIG DADDY ECHO was slow to jump. Into the bend GEORGIE LEE ran inwards checking BIG DADDY ECHO and OMAUI SAILOR before striking the heels of BLACK TRIGGER.
Race 5	$26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 390	TARGET HAND struck the hindquarters of LADY PARKA into the bend as she was forced down to the rail by HOMEBUSH KALAMA. Around the bend and into the straight HOMEBUSH KALAMA and CHASIN' CROWS came together for a number of strides when vying for the lead allowing LADY PARKA to take a rails run.
Race 6	SOUTHERN FLOOR CARE - C1 - 390	POUTAMA RAMA clipped the heels of RULEBOOK RAY into the bend both losing ground. Around the bend COOL'S THE TUNE ran outwards colliding with CRASH GYBE. Soon after NOISE CONTROL and LIGHNING FEVER came together. Past the finish line CRASH GYBE ran down towards the rail resulting in COOL'S THE TUNE clipping heels and falling. A veterinary check revealed a small skin laceration on the 4th digit of the left hind foot with no stand down recommended.
Race 7	100% SELECTRIX - C1 - 457	CASLEY ran after jumping coming in contact with MOLLY PARTON and SERAPHINE JEWEL. Into the straight SERAPHINE JEWEL checked out sharply off the heels of BRUNO.
Race 8	SGRC BOUNCE B POWDER - C1 - 390	Both BOMBAY TRAM and ROYAL RODNEY were slow to jump. Into the bend MISS YOU HONEY was forced down onto the heels of DUDLEY RAMA with both losing ground. The runner up TOWER was tightened by the winner SWIP TASTIC just short of the finish line.
Race 9	COLORMARK SYSTEMS LTD - C2 - 457	FANCY DIVER and RED TIGER were slow to jump. Into the bend SLIGHTLY AMAZING ran out from the rail checking KIWARA TREY, HIGHGROVE and THAT'S BIZAAR. Soon after KIWARA TREY was tightened by HIGHGROVE losing ground. Into the straight RED TIGER ran down towards the rail checking HIGHGROVE who in turn impeded the running of THAT'S BIZAAR. RED TIGER was subject to a veterinary check which revealed nothing amiss.
Race 10	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz Sprint Feature - C5 - 390	CAWBOURNE CLICK was slow to jump. Into the turn GET OUT THERE crossed over and checked the running of RON'S SECRET who went back on top of CAWBOURNE CLICK with these two dogs finishing at the rear.
Race 11	ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C1 - 390	LENNY'S FORTUNE ran outwards into the bend colliding with FERAL DUCHESS. Around the bend FULL ON BOWIE faultered free of interference running outwards and checking LIQUOR before drifting out to finish a distant last. A veterinary check revealed luxation of the right hind hock resulting in euthanasia on humane grounds.
Race 12	justracing.com.au - C4 - 390	CREPE MYTLE was tightened by OPAWA PADLESS into the bend. WILLY BOLT drifted to last after the jump never improving during the running. WILLY BOLT was vetted and found free of injury. The Club veterinarian however recommended the dog undergo blood tests.
