Judicial report: Following race 8 in which a Greyhound suffered a fractured hock and the Stewards had inspected the track and consulted with the Veterinarian on duty, Trainers and the Track Curator, the Stewards made the decision in the interests of dog welfare to abandon the remainder of the meeting. The track on the final bend had developed some holes and the equipment being used for grooming after each race was not doing an efficent job in filling those holes to a standard which the Stewards required for safe racing.

Race 1	Allied Work Force 0800 Labour C0 - C0 - 305	CALM EXPRESS was a little slow to begin losing two lengths. ELLAVA SCRAP was checked soon after the start and again on the first corner and she lost ground and finished in last place.
Race 2	Harrison Hire Master C0 - C0 - 520	SHARKIE'S DREAM was very slow to begin losing four lengths but she gradually made up ground to finish in 4th place. UPAHUT CINDY was checked and went back to last soon after the start and she stayed well back throughout. BUDDY BROKE raced onto the heels of BREAKING MELODY on the first turn causing that runner to run wide and she stayed out wide and finished in last place. BUDDY BROKE then had to check off the heels of GROOVY SHANE on the final bend and he lost ground.
Race 3	Guthrie Bowron C1 - C1 - 305	PHANTOM FOG and THRILLING DOLL were mid field in the race to the first corner but bumped together and went back to the rear. Soon after, PHANTOM FOG checked off the heels of IMA ROYAL, went back to last and finished in that position.
Race 4	Crombie Lockwood (NZ) Ltd Final C0 - C0f - 520
Race 5	Palamountains Nutrition C1 - C1 - 305	MANLY MAGIC began awkwardly losing ground and he stayed well back to finish in last place. CLASSY HOLLY collided with TINY TITCH soon after the start and dropped back to near the rear and stayed back throughout.
Race 6	OfficeMax C1 - C1 - 520	COOL ROYAL and NATHAN OPAWA were bumped and pushed wide racing into the first bend and they lost ground. COOL ROYALE recovered to run on and finish in 3rd place while NATHAN OPAWA stayed well back to be in 2nd last place at the finish.
Race 7	Morrie Gibbons Signs C1 - C1 - 305	HOMEBUSH BONITA and KARAMU THUNDER jostled together on the first corner and they dropped back onto BOND ECLIPSE and all three lost ground. HOMEBUSH NELSON was also affected in the incident and was forced wide over extra ground on the bend and he finished in last place.
Race 8	Mickey's Super Liquor C1 - C1 - 305	HOMEBUSH BREE was a late scratching 10 minutes before start time when the dog was found to be in season when removed from the kennels to prepare for racing. ICE ROCK received two slight checks soon after the start and settled at the rear. ICE ROCK then went forward adjacent to the rail until suffering an injury on the bend and dropped out to finish a long last. ICE ROCK was examined by the Vet and euthanased due to a fractured hock. The Stewards, after inspecting the track and consulting with others, made the decision to abandon the meeting. ( refer to judicial notes )
