Track: Heavy The track was softer than normal due to persistent rain in recent days. A very cold southerly wind resulted in a high chill factor.
Scales: Correct at 30kgs

Judicial report: A enquiry was opened and adjourned pending further inquiries in respect of an alleged incident involving improper language.

Race 1 ADDED ENERGY WELCOME - C0 - 457 GIMME A GEM was tightened by MR.FONTERRA into the bend. Approaching the home straight an improving MR.FONTERRA moved outwards off MR.CAMEROON clipping the hind legs of MR.MEADE who lost ground as a result.
Race 2 SOUTHLAND & OTAGO PHOTO FINISH - C0 - 390 LIGHTNING FEVER and THRILLING ROBYN were slow to jump. Soon after the start HOMEBUSH DIGBY ran in checking BLUE PARVENU.
Race 3 www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C1 - 390 LADY PARKA lost all chance when slow to jump. NOISE CONTROL ran out into the bend colliding with HOMEBUSH KALAMA who was forced out onto TUKURUA COLT. Into the straight NOISE CONTROL improved along the rail clipping the heels of SURFIN' BIZAAR who was turned sideways. The payment of dividends was held up pending Stewards looking at film of the pre start procedure. It was noted that the handler of HOMEBUSH KALAMA had difficulty in removing the head collar from the dog prior to the first line being loaded away which caused a delay in the start. The placings and payment of dividends was subsequently confirmed. The trainer of HOMEBUSH KALAMA when spoken to confirmed that his handler had difficulty in getting the tongue out of the leather eyelet.
Race 4 $26 FIVE WIRE MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 457 Both MIGHTY PROPHET and WHO'S YA DUFFER came up with the lids and were slow to jump. FUNTASTIC BOY caught his right fore paw in the grill of the boxes when jumping, coming out awkwardly and losing all chance.
Race 5 SGRC BOUNCE B POWDER - C4 - 390 PATTY'S GIRL, CAWBOURNE CLICK and ELITE BAXTER were slow to jump. Into the bend CAWBOURNE DUDE who led early was crossed by OUR BEOWULF before being tightened by CREPE MYRTLE on his inner drifting out to finish well back. A post race veterinary check revealed
Race 6 BRENDON BURKE @ SOUTHERNWIDE - C1 - 390 There was a delay in getting the dogs to the start prior to race start time due to a dog requiring strapping by the veterinarian who was engaged at the time in treating an injured dog from the previous race. Difficulty was experienced by the handlers of FULL ON BOWIE and BOTANY STORY in loading the respective dogs away delaying the start for approximately one minute. THRILLING HALLE who was a boxed first dog turned in the boxes as a result, taking no effective part in the race. A box trial was order in terms of Rule 72.13. The Starter was spoken to by Stewards regarding the delays with the boxing of the dogs and reminded of his obligations to ensure the dogs are loaded without delay. BOTANY STORY was subject to a veterinary check and found to have a laceration to the tail which required stapling. A stand down of 10 days was recommended.
Race 7 SGRC STAMINA PLUS POWDER - C2 - 390 THAT'S BIZAAR drifted to the rear soon after the jump and when improving into the bend was tightened coming back on DUDLEY RAMA. Soon after KAYTEE DIVA was tightened by FIRESIDE BLAZE losing ground. SWIP TASTIC was subject to a veterinary check which revealed a laceration to the left fore 2nd digit nail bed with a 14 day stand down recommended.
Race 8 $25 YARD MUZZLE STAKES - C1 - 390 STAGS INGILL was slow to jump. Into the bend FOGGY STORM, FANCY WAYS, CAWBOURNE WOODY and GOZO DANCER came together losing all chance.
Race 9 SOUTHERN FLOOR CARE LIMITED - C4/5 - 390 LES BAXTER, ZITA GRACE and MARLENE'S BABE were slow to jump with MARLENE'S BABE running wide into the straight.
Race 10 Graduation Final - NZRSf - 457 BLACL SHELLEEN drifted to the rear after the jump. Into the bend WODSTON BOBO and ULTIMATE DREAM came together for a few strides. Into the straight TEPIRITA TIKI checked out off the heels of KING OF CLUBS.
Race 11 ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C3/4 - 457 BENJI LAFOURCHE, MOST HAUNTED and FANCY DIVER were slow to jump.
Race 12 justracing.com.au - C2/3 - 390 HO HO PAREORA was tightened by OLD MATE DAVE soon after the jump. Following the race SORRENTO SUN was found with a wound to his left hind leg which required sutures with a 10 day stand down recommended.
