Race 1 Allied Work Force 0800 Labour - C1 - 305 CAWBOURNE ROD, MAD DECISION and ASH VEGAS jostled together soon after the start and they lost ground, settled at the rear and they stayed back to finish in the last three places.
Race 2 Wanganui Farm Supplies - C1 - 520 KIWARA TREY was checked on the first corner and went back which resulted in checks to OUR MAC, CAWBOURNE WAYNE and HONEY BOUND and these three runners lost several lengths and all chance of a placing.
Race 3 Guthrie Bowron, Wanganui - C1 - 305 This race was started 2 minutes late at the request of the T.A.B. LEFT JAB began well to be handy on the first corner but made contact with the rail and went back quickly causing checks to CAWBOURNE MADZ and BLACK DELORIAN and they never recovered and finished at the rear. LEFT JAB was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury.
Race 4 Crombie Lockwood (NZ) Ltd - C1/2 - 305 One of the favourites THRILLING BRYN was the slowest to begin and he was then checked on the first corner when racing adjacent to the rail and went back to last and never improved and finished in that position. It was the first start for over five months for THRILLING BRYN.
Race 5 Vita Power - C1/2 - 305 DAPPER was slow to begin losing three lengths but he then made a quick forward move to be midfield on the bend. He then checked to avoid the heels of FLASH TRAV and ran very wide into the straight over extra ground and finished in last place.
Race 6 OfficeMax - C1/2 - 520 JACK BANNER checked off the back of KEACHY'S MATE on the first corner and went back causing checks to THRILLING BUDDY and PURE FURY who both ran wide on the first bend but they recovered to finish in 1st and 4th places. COOL TRACEY was observed to ease and lose ground on the first corner and again eased at the end of the back straight and she finished in last place. COOL TRACEY was stood down for 28 days under Rule 80.1 b and is required to complete a satisfactory trial. HOMEBUSH SHEDAN ran in on the first corner and made firm contact with the rail and lost ground and she stayed back to finish in 2nd last place. She was examined by the Vet as a precaution and cleared of injury.
Race 7 Morrie Gibbons Signs - C3 - 305 BACK AT YA drew box 1 and began well and ran out sharply from the start but was clear of other runners. She continued to race wide over extra ground but still finished in 2nd place. MYSTERY KIM and JANIE PHOENIX collided on the bend and both lost ground. WHATA BOWLA moved out approaching the home turn and forced JANIE PHOENIX, GYM CLASS HERO and VALUE PACK very wide over extra ground and they finished at the rear. GYM CLASS HERO was sore following the race, was examined by the Vet and stood down for 14 days with a wrist injury.
Race 8 Mickey's Super Liquor - C4/5 - 520 The favourite SLICE OF MAGIC was slow to begin and then ran wide throughout over extra ground but finished well for a close up 4th placing. RUMOUR TISM and MAJOR HIT were both checked in the early stages and settled well back and they failed to make up ground and finished in the last two places.
Race 9 Bilderbeck Construction, Wanganui - C5 - 305 REGAL OUTLAW was held up behind AZURE OSTI for several strides on the bend and eventually had to check off heels and lost four lengths and all chance of a placing.
Race 10 Keenan Concrete, Wanganui - C2/3 - 520 THRILLING ALI was checked on the first corner and lost several lengths and he never recovered and tailed the field from there to the finish.
Race 11 Broad Roofing Services, Wanganui - C5 - 305 The winner KYLE IZMIR was initially announced as having broken the track record but the Stewards were advised soon after the race that there was a problem with the timing and that the time could not be officially recognized as a track record. The timing system will be checked and any fault rectified as soon as possible. The race was all clear.
Race 12 Media Works - C4 - 305 HOMEBUSH LENNY jumped in the air as the lids opened and he lost a couple of lengths. CHINESE GIRL ran a little wide into the home straight and forced BILLY WHIZ wide. Once into the straight they collided for a stride losing momentum but finished in 3rd and 4th places.
