He was observed to make firm contact with the rail as he drifted back and was examined by the Vet and stood down for 10 days with bruising and grazing to the left shoulder and thigh. |
| Race 2 | Carters Wanganui - C2 - 520 | WANDY KYLE drew box 7 and was wide going into the first turn and was checked and forced even wider and went back to last. He gradually made up ground and received a clear rails run into the straight and finished well for 2nd place. |
| Race 3 | Crombie Lockwood (NZ) Ltd - C3 - 305 | AWESOME VINTAGE was checked on the first corner and dropped back onto CHINESE GIRL and they both lost three lengths in the incident. |
| Race 4 | Wanganui Farm Supplies - C2/3 - 520 | One of the favourites RESONATOR was handy until starting on the final bend when he received a slight check from a runner on his outside and soon after he was clipped from behind and went back to the rear and stayed there to the finish. He was examined by the Vet as a precaution and was found to have suffered bruising to the right hind foot with a 5 day stand down recommended. |
| Race 5 | Broad Roofing Services Wanganui - C5 - 305 | REALON RAPTURE, UPAHUT STAR and ELITE LUKE bumped together in the run to the first corner and settled at the rear. UPAHUT STAR and ELITE LUKE then bumped together several times in the run around the bend and into the straight and they finished several lengths behind the other runners. |
| Race 6 | Keenan Concrete Wanganui Cup Final - C5f - 520 | OKAY'S DERMOTOFF and STAR TO EXCEL were checked on the first turn and again entering the back straight and they lost ground on both occasions and stayed back to finish at the rear. |
| Race 7 | Carters/Gib - C5 - 305 | BIGTIME SURVIVOR and ANOTHER NICK were checked on the first corner and they never recovered and stayed back to finish in the last two places. |
| Race 8 | Mickeys Super Liquor Wanganui - C4/5 - 520 | STARFIRE BOY and OPAWA PADLESS collided on the first bend and STARFIRE BOY lost several lengths. STARFIRE BOY again lost ground when having to ease to avoid the weakening ALFA DANCER entering the final bend and he finished in 2nd last place. The well supported ALFA DANCER was handy early in the race and received a slight check entering the back straight and he drifted from there to finish several lengths last. ALFA DANCER was examined by the Vet and stood down for 28 days with a gracilus muscle injury. |
| Race 9 | Harrison Hire Master Wanganui - C3/4 - 305 | CAWBOURNE WHIZ was slow to begin and lost four lengths. HOMEBUSH DUSTY and PENIE'S FROM were both checked back to the rear on the first corner and they stayed back to finish in the last two places. |
| Race 10 | Bilderbeck Construction Wanganui - C3/4 - 305 | CRYSTAL KATIE was slow to begin losing three lengths. She then checked off heels on the first corner losing further ground and finished in 2nd last place. The favourite BIGTIME MOE drew box 8 and had every chance but only performed fairly and finished in last place but not far from the dividend payers. |
