Track: Good A new lure wire rope was installed prior to the meeting two days previous on 17.03.10 but this wire came apart during pre race trials for this meeting and was replaced prior to race 1. Due to the fact that there was now no replacement wire available, the Stewards elected to cancel stirrups for this meeting in order to restrict the use of the lure to races only and the Club will have a back up lure wire available by the next meeting on 24.03.10.

Race 1	Allied Work Force 0800 Labour - C3 - 305	CAWBOURNE OPAL jumped best from the boxes to lead but only went a few metres and went off stride and dropped quickly back to the rear and finished a long last. She was examined by the Vet and stood down for 42 days with a torn gracilus muscle. The winner GO ZILLA was observed to be walking short after the race, was also examined by the Vet who diagnosed forelimb cramp with no stand down required. HAILSTONE HERB and SWIP TASTIC jostled together for several strides in the race to the first corner and then HEALING CRYSTAL moved in and caused further tightening and HAILSTONE HERB was turned sideways and ran wide but recovered to finish in 4th place. FIVE KAY KAT and SWIP TASTIC collided on the bend and SWIP TASTIC suffered most in the incident and finished in 2nd last place.
Race 2	Guthrie Bowron Wanganui - C1/2 - 520	One of the favourites WANDY KYLE was the slowest to begin but was making up ground when he collided with BLACK SAVOY on the first corner and they lost several lengths and were not able to make up the lost ground. PURE FURY and BOTANY TOM bumped together on three ocassions in the run to the first corner and they settled at the tail end and stayed back to finish in the rear group.
Race 3	Wanganui Farm Supplies - C4 - 305	HE'S SO FINE began awkwardly and settled at the rear. OPAWA MEGASTAR moved in on the first corner and caused checks to MISS AGENT and AWESOME VINTAGE who dropped back onto HE'S SO FINE and they stayed back to finish in the last three places.
Race 4	NZRS - NZRSq - 520 Heat 1	PRETTY SECRET began awkwardly from box 8 and her outside hind leg went back and struck a holding down bolt on the outside of the boxes. PRETTY SECRET lost several lengths and all chance and finished in 2nd last place and was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury. While this was considered to be a freak incident, the Curator has undertaken to investigate ways to ensue this does not happen again in the future. The remainder of the race was all clear.
Race 5	Keenan Concrete - C4f - 305	UPAHUT ZORRO ran out soon after the start and caused checks to WHATA BOWLA and THRILLING ANGUS and also to himself and they all lost ground and finished in the last three places.
Race 6	NZRS 6 Pack - NZRSq - 520 Heat 2	The start was delayed by 2 minutes at the request of the T.A.B. BIGTIME GEM ran in from the start and this resulted in checks to THRILLING ALI, EMBEZZLEMENT and ADDIS JAY. TRIPLE TEE checked off the heels of BIGTIME GEM on the first corner and moved out forcing ADDIS JAY and VICTORY CHEERS very wide over extra ground when going into the first bend. Soon after THRILLING ALI galloped on the back of TRIPLE TEE and that runner went back and out into the line of EMBEZZLEMENT and both runners lost several lengths and they stayed back to finish in the last two places.
Race 7	Mickey's Super Liquor - C2/3 - 520	BARKHAMSTED was checked and settled back when KID DELANEY jumped out at the start. BARKHAMSTED was then checked on two ocassions on the first bend when racing onto the heels of GOSS SAGE and he went back to last and stayed well back to finish in 6th place. BARKHAMSTED suffered a split webbing on a fore foot, was examined by the Vet and stood down for 21 days.
Race 8	NZRS - NZRSq - 520 Heat 3	OPAWA GEM and BIGTIME ALLSTAR both began a little awkwardly and settled towards the rear. THRILLING LEWIS moved down towards the rail on the first corner and caused a check to BIGTIME ALLSTAR who moved out and checked CHARLIE STUBBS, VIREYA and ELIE SAAB and they all lost ground and stayed back to finish in the last four places
Race 9	Broad Roofing Services - C4/5 - 305	ALLEGRO VISION ran in sharply from the start and checked DA COOLA who went back to last and he stayed well back to finish in 2nd last place. WONGAWILLINEV checked off the heels of STAR CONQUEST on the first corner and went back onto MISS BRUGGE with both dogs losing ground. WONGAWILLINEV made up ground to finish in 4th place but MISS BRUGGE never recovered and finished in last place.
Race 10	Bilderbeck Construction - C4/5 - 305	NATASHA'S DUFFER ran in from the start and jostled with ANOTHER NICK and CHILD'S PLAY and all three lost ground. NATASHA'S DUFFER was the most affected in the incident and she went back to last and stayed there to the finish while CHILD'S PLAY recovered the best to finish in 4th place with ANOTHER NICK back in 6th place.
