Palmerston North Greyhound Racing Club
Manawatu Raceway ON WEDNESDAY 17 Feb 2010
Weather: ShoweryTrack: Good
Scales: correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment:
Judicial report: Due to persistent showers prior to race one the stewards downgraded the track to slushy after race 2 ,the track improved later on in the programe.
The handlers were given permission by the stewards to wear what ever wet apparel they had ,as the club had run out of jackets.
The payout for race 3 was held up for some time as the stewards reviwed a replay of the race as the lure got close to PIN UP PUPPY (fav) on the top bend for a few strides before it powered away to the finish .
After reviewing the replay the stewards were of the opinion that no dogs in this race were disadvantaged by this incident and the payout was authorised
During the running of race 4 the leading dog LOOKS DECEIVING ran on to and caught the lure for some distance on the top bend .
The lure then sped up again and carried on to the finishing line with LOOKS DECEIVING still in front as they crossed the line .
The payout was put on hold as the stewards reviewed the replay and were of the opinion that the field was disadvantaged by the leading dog catching it on the top bend.
The race was then decleared a "no race" under Rule 75 and abandoned at that point.
The race was not considered for a restart under Rule 76.6
The curator Mr d Richards was then instructed to replace the carriage on the lure and this was done and the lure tested prior to the field going out for race 5 ,there were no further issues with the lure from there on in and the meeting proceded smoothly
