Track: Good The track was firmer than usual due to recent hot and dry weather conditions but will be power harrowed on Friday 05th February. With the amount of water applied during the day, the track was always safe to race on.

Judicial report: Trainer J.T.McInerney was fined $ 100-00 under Rule 69.11 on each of two charges for presenting ASTRO BLUES 1.6 kilograms overweight in race 1 and HOMEBUSH ACE 2.3 kilograms overweight in race 2.
At an inquiry which had been adjourned from the meeting on 20.01.10, Track Curator Mr D.Richards admitted a breach of Rule 88.1f iv when it was alleged that he had used abusive language towards the Lure Driver Mr Tim Pilcher. After taking into account that it was a first offence and that Mr Richards had pleaded guilty, a fine of $ 500-00 was imposed.
At an inquiry which had been adjourned from the meeting on 20.01.10, Trainer M.McCook admitted a breach of Rule 88.1 o when it was alleged that he had misconducted himself on four seperate occasions. After taking into account that Mr McCook pleaded guilty to the charge and that it was a second offence, he was disqualified from the conclusion of racing on 05.02.2010 to and including racing on 05.05.2010.

Race 1 INTERISLANDER Maiden Sprint - C0 - 375 PIN UP PUPPY and the eventual winner CAWBOURNE MO collided soon after the start and PIN UP PUPPY lost three lengths but he then recovered to finish in 2nd place. FAITHFUL ACE and BLACK SAVOY settled at the rear and then FAITHFUL ACE then ran wide on the bend and into the straight forcing BLACK SAVOY wide over extra ground. BLACK SAVOY then made up ground well to finish in 5th place.
Race 2 Freedom Print & Design House Maiden Sprint - C0 - 375 MISS SNOW ANGEL was checked soon after the start losing several lengths and although she did make up some ground, she still finished in last place. CAWBOURNE SPARK, BIGTIME ACHIEVER and CAWBOURNE STEFFI led to the home turn but then jostled together for several strides. They recovered to finish in the first three places.
Race 3 Weld Fabrication Engineering Ltd Sprint - C1 - 375 BIGTIME GUY and CARIBBEAN EBONY began well to be handy on the first corner but they were then checked when THRILLING BLADE moved across towards the rail and they lost several lengths and all chance of a first three placing.
Race 4 Manawatu Security Fencing Sprint - C1 - 375 KNIGHT INVADER was handy to the first corner but was galloped on from behind by BIGTIME PAL and went back to the rear and stayed there to the finish.
Race 5 Wenham Grain & Seed Sprint - C1 - 375 ERIC PHOENIX began a little awkwardly and settled in last place. He then checked off the heels of BIGTIME PAL on the first corner but recovered well to finish a close 4th place. RUSTY ENFORCER who drew box 1 received pressure from the outside on the first corner and lost ground but he also recovered well to finish in 3rd place.
Race 6 Radio Trackside 828AM Manawatu Middle Distance - C1 - 457 All clear.
Race 7 Bill Boyd & Associates Sprint - C1 - 375 THRILLING NICK, WAITOTARA RED and SAMBO WARRIOR were all slow to begin losing four lengths. An incident on the first corner resulted in all runners except the first two WAITOTARA RED and MAGNIFICENT being severely checked and they all lost several lengths.
Race 8 Delta Drainage & Water Services Sprint - C1 - 375 THRILLING FELIX went up with the box lids and lost three lengths at the start. JASON BOURNE began well enough but drifted soon after to be a long distance behind the 2nd last runner and finished several lengths last. JASON BOURNE was examined by the Vet and stood down for 10 days with a pectoral muscle injury.
Race 9 Grant Irvine Pharmacy Sprint - C1 - 375 TODD ran in from the start and caused some jostling to HOMEBUSH JAZZ and CATCH THE BREEZE who both lost a little ground. RURAL LADY ran out at the start and bumped with MAGIC ELLA and both dogs lost ground but recovered to finish in 3rd and 4th places. MADAM KEISHA ran very wide into the home straight over considerable extra ground and she finished in last place.
Race 10 Outback Trading Company Ltd Middle Distance - C1 - 457 WANDY KYLE was slow to begin and settled in last place. HOMEBUSH WARRIOR ran in on the first corner and collided with WANDY KYLE and they both lost ground and stayed back to finish in the rear group.
