| Race 1 | Advance Pet Nutrition Sprint - C0 - 295 | LIFE WITH DEXTER ran out after the jump with FAT TONY and KNOW LIFE running in. Into the bend LUKES FORTUNE ran outwards taking OPAWA MISS wide on the track. Soon after FAT TONY ran out from the rail and marred LUKES FORTUNE with subsequent checks to MRS.PATCH, KNOW LIFE and HARRY GOODWIN. CREPE MYRTLE collided with FAT TONY resulting in FAT TONY falling and CREPE MYRTLE being badly checked. LUKES FORTUNE, CREPE MYRTLE and FAT TONY were all subject to veterinary checks. LUKES FORTUNE was found to have left fore triceps muscle soreness with a 7 day stand down recommended. Both CREPE MYRTLE and FAT TONY were found to have sustained no injury. LUKES FORTUNE'S (P&T Hammond) performance was deemed unsatisfactory by Stewards and was ordered to undertake a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with Rule 81.1. Stewards deemed FAT TONY (RM McKenzie) to have marred resulting in the dog being stood down by Stewards for 28 days for Marring under Rule 80.1.a. |
| Race 2 | Challenge Opawa All Up Dash - C0 - 295 | ACHEW ACHEW, DIGITALIS and LENNY'S FORTUNE were slow to jump. Into the bend ACHEW ACHEW and GENISTA FLAME came together with GENISTA FLAME coming back on DIGITALIS, HOMEBUSH NICOLE and BEAT THE FOURCHE. GENISTA FLAME was vetted and found to have muscle soreness in the left hind quadriceps with a 10 day stand down recommended. |

SEAN OPAWA was subject to a veterinary check which revealed grazing and bruising to his left hind leg with a 10 day stand down recommended. |

The race was subsequently abandoned in terms of Rule 76.1. The cause of the lure failure was a faulty bridge rectifier which appears to have shorted internally within the lure casing. The lure was replaced. As this was a heat for a c1 520 metre feature, FINE FASHION and TATTY BOGLE were selected for the final to be held on Tuesday 26 January 2010 in accordance with Rule 76.7. |
| Race 18 | www.canterburyproperty.co.nz Feature - C1q - 520 Heat 4 | BENJI LAFOURCHE was tightened into the first bend coming back on CROSSFIRE MAX. At the end of the back straight JAY O'MAC who was leading was obsered to ease stride and did so again into the home straight eventually finishing fourth. Trainer CJ Weir was shown the race film and in explanation said that the dog had lost sight of the lure as well as cramping up. A veterinary examination after the race failed to find any injury or cramping, and a subsequent second examination after the last race found soreness to the right gracilus with a 10 day stand down recommended. A breach of Rule 80.1.b was preferrred against JAY O'MAC after after hearing from both the trainer and the club veterinarian Steward deemed the dog to have been in breach of the rule, and he was stood down for a period of 12 months as this was his third offence. Trainer CJ Weir made a subsequent application under Rule 80.4 seeking re examination of JAY O'MAC. That was undertaken at 1.00pm on 20 January 2010 by veterinarian D Matheson, with that examination failing to establish any serious injury. |
