Stipendiary Stewards Report

Wellington Greyhound Racing Club

Hatrick Raceway ON WEDNESDAY 06 Jan 2010

Weather: Cloudy
Track: Good The track was not presented in the usual high standard which has been achieved over recent months and as a result of complaints received from Trainers after race 8, a further track inspection was made by the Stewards. Track staff were requested to carry out further grooming and this resulted in the last two races being run 8 minutes behind the scheduled starting times and those races were run without incident. Club management were requested to undertake further urgent remedial work before racing on Friday 08.01.10.
Scales: Checked and correct
Health and Safety comment: Nil

Judicial report: An inquiry which was opened and adjourned on 03.01.10 was reconvened and Trainer B.Hunt admitted a breach of Rule 88.1 o in that he had been negligent in not ensuring that BIGTIME SCAR, an entrant at the Wanganui meeting on 03.01.10 was presented to race and as a result the dog was a late scratching. Mr Hunt was fined the sum of $150-00 and BIGTIME SCAR was stood down for 28 days. Mr Hunt was advised that any further breaches of this Rule would result in a substantially greater penalty being imposed.

Incident Reports

Race 1 The Brownzy Sports Bar - North Shore - C2 - 305 THRILLING DEE moved in soon after the start and hindered THRILLING FEVER and PSYCHOTIC who both lost ground with THRILLING FEVER going back to last. PSYCHOTIC then eased off the heels of THRILLING DEE on the first corner and then had to check off the same dogs heels on the bend and moved out forcing BIGTIME GUY very wide over extra ground and he finished in last place. TRICKY PAULA led until approaching the straight entrance but then ran wide into the straight losing ground and this probably cost her the chance of a closer placing than 3rd.

TIPSY MAGOO was handy on the bend but was checked and dropped back onto SALLY BAXTER and both dogs lost all chance. CAWBOURNE CROWN then faltered and dropped out to finish a long last with ROUGH ENFORCER also losing ground in the incident. CAWBOURNE CROWN was examined by the Vet and was euthanased due to a hock injury.
