Race 1 | South Wairarapa Veterinary Services Maiden Sprint - C0 - 375 | GOLDLASS began awkwardly and collided with BLACK SAVOY and settled at the rear but she made up ground very well to finish in 3rd place. WAIRERE MIRACLE, CAWBOURNE SPARK and CLASSY HOLLY shared the lead to the first corner but then came together and jostled for several strides with WAIRERE MIRACLE and CAWBOURNE SPARK losing several lengths and all chance. CLASSY HOLLY also lost ground but still finished in 4th place. |
Race 2 | Hazel Crombie Stakes Sprint - C1 - 375 | ROBUST BOY jumped out from the start and bumped POLLY'S PRINCESS who was pushed wide and settled back. ERIC PHOENIX was slow to begin and stayed back with POLLY'S PRINCESS and they finished at the rear. POLLY'S PRINCESS was clipped from behind by ERIC PHOENIX on the bend and bumped again on the home turn and appeared to be sore following the race, was examined by the Vet and stood down for 28 days with a gracilus muscle injury. |
Race 3 | Jim & Pam Eagle Stakes Sprint - C1 - 375 | VIOLET JAZZ moved out on the first corner and checked THRILLING BASH and they both went back from handy positions and never recovered and finished in 5th and 6th places. |
Race 4 | Roger Hoar Stakes Middle Distance - C1 - 457 | GEOFF PHOENIX was slow to begin and stayed well back to finish in 2nd last place. Following this race and after good drying weather, the track was upgraded from heavy to good. |
Race 5 | Ted Taylor Stakes Middle Distance - C1 - 457 | COMET PRINCESS was slow to begin and lost four lengths and she stayed back to finish in 7th place. WATCH THIS PAGE moved in on the first corner and checked FLOATING AWAY who lost ground. Soon after, THRILLING RUST galloped on the back of LANA CEE who lost ground and then moved out and marred WATCH THIS PAGE who was pushed wide on the bend. LANA CEE was subsequently stood down for 28 days under Rule 80.1a and is required to complete a satisfactory trial. COMET PRINCESS moved out on the home turn and checked WATCH THIS PAGE who fell and he was examined by the Vet and stood down for 14 days with a quadricep injury. |
Race 6 | Val & Gerald Jackson Stakes Sprint - C3 - 375 | ROUGH ENFORCER jumped in at the start and checked BACK DRAUGHT, CAPTAIN CARLOS and LEATHER JACKET. BACK DRAUGHT settled at the rear with DESTINE TO EXCEL who had begun awkwardly and they stayed back to finish in the last two places. |
Race 7 | New Zealand Racing Series Graduation Final - NZRSf - 457 | PUNGAS LAD who was well supported, jumped well to lead but then began to drift back on the bend and he finished in last place. He was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury. |
Race 8 | Mark Beeson Stakes Sprint - C4 - 375 | CAWBOURNE CROWN was slow to begin and was still in last place on the first corner but ran on well from there to finish in 3rd place. |
Race 9 | Gary Caffell Stakes Six Pack Sprint - C5 - 375 | The box lids appeared to be slow to open and the video replays confirmed this. The Club were advised of the matter and confirmed that a thorough inspection will be made of the boxes and the problem rectified prior to the next meeting. The payout was held up while the start was checked by the Stewards and it was then confirmed that the start was fair to all runners and the payout authorised. ADDIS JAY jumped in from the start and checked CAPTAIN HASTINGS who settled at the rear. SCOTT NO WIVES was checked on the first corner and went back onto POWERFUL ENEMY and ADDIS JAY and all three lost several lengths and all chance with POWERFUL ENEMY and ADDIS JAY being the most affected and they finished at the rear. SCOTT NO WIVES finished in 4th place. |
Race 10 | Farewell Wairarapa Stakes Middle Distance - C4/5 - 457 | DEAL FOR YOU ran in from the start and checked SHIFTY DOONS and KNOW QUESTION who settled back in the field. KNOW QUESTION then ran out approaching the first corner and pushed SHIFTY DOONS wide on the bend. FIND PEDRO was away reasonably well but began to drift back before the first corner and then made contact with KNOW QUESTION and dropped out to finish a long last. He was examined by the Vet and stood down for 28 days with a neck injury. |
