Judicial report: Trainer G.A.Cleeve was fined $100 when MARKY BLUE (Race 19) weighed in at 1.7kg below his previous race weight on 27th October 2009.
An inquiry was opened under rule 38.3(a) into the performance of BUSINESS TIME (R. Blackburn). See report Race 16.

Race 1 Advance Pet Nutrition Sprint - C0 - 295 When WHITEY'S WAY moved across to the rail shortly after the start she checked PRIDE OF SOUTH. PRIDE OF SOUTH was then dragged from behind by HOTWAX. PRIDE OF SOUTH was subjected to a post race veterinary inspection which revealed no abnormalities. TOMMY TEALEAF in attempting to move towards the rail hampered HOTWAX with HOTWAX being forced back towards the rear of the field.
Race 2 Challenge Opawa All Up Dash - C0 - 295 Racing into the first bend ROYAL CHARADE checked LIFE WITH DEXTER. MINI THE MOOCH and HOMEBUSH BADGER came together on the home turn when well back in the field. ARROW OF ARTEMIS raced wide for the entire journey.
Race 3 www.greyhoundtips.co.nz Stakes - C0 - 520 At the winning post on the first occasion HAMISH BAXTER was severely interfered with by BOMBAY TRAM and GROUP ONE LYNN, with HAMISH BAXTER falling as a result. HAMISH BAXTER regained his feet and completed the race some distance behind the field. KNOW RESPONSE was also inconvenienced in this incident. A post race veterinary check was carried out on HAMISH BAXTER which revealed lameness to left hind leg, laceration to flank and pain over flank and hip. The favourite, SAFE AND SECURE, appeared to be a clear winner half way down the home straight however just short of the finishing line he turned his head and marred the running of WARRIOR WIKI. Trainer B Dann (Safe and Secure) pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 80.1(a) for the greyhound SAFE AND SECURE in that he marred another runner. As this was SAFE AND SECURE's second offence under 80.1(a) he was stood down for three months and ordered to undertake a satisfactory trial.
Race 4 www.duvauchellehotelmotel.co.nz Dash - C1 - 295 HORSE POWER was slow to begin.
Race 5 FLAIR Sprint - C1 - 295 CAWBOURNE JODIE attempted to move away from the rail racing into the first bend and got onto the heels of DARK ICE and drifted back through the field.
Race 6 Super Pets Stakes - C1 - 520 There was a delay of 3 minutes to the start of this race due to the late start of a harness race at Manawatu. SKY VANE was checked racing into the final bend by KNOW TEARS when racing back in the field. KNOW TEARS was subjected to a post race veterinary check that revealed a ruptured collateral ligament in a toe with a 28 day stand down.
Race 7 George Calvert Cleaning Dash - C1 - 295 Racing into the first bend ETOILE NOIR attempted to move away from the rail and checked BREAKING DREAMS, ARCHILLES and CHILE LOPEZ with all three of these dogs losing ground.
Race 8 Hampden Tavern Sprint - C1 - 295 There was a 3 minute delay in the start of this race due to an Australian galloping race running late. ACE DRUMARD was very slow to begin.
Race 9 Kolorful Kanvas Stakes - C1 - 520 HOMEBUSH SHEDAN was shunted from behind on the first bend by HIGHGROVE with HOMEBUSH SHEDAN losing ground.
Race 10 Shirley Veterinary Centre Dash - C0 - 295 Racing into the first bend FERAL DUCHESS moved away from the rail and onto HOMEBUSH BROCK with HOMEBUSH BROCK checking FERAL DUCHESS from behind. Also inconvenienced in this incident was SAL BAXTER and MUSTARD FUDGE.
Race 11 Tuesday Place Pick Sprint - C1 - 295 This race was run two minutes late at the request of the TAB. SPIN A TITLE was very slow to begin but rallied well to finish third. SING CILLA BLACK squeezed MULBERRY KING back onto PALOMINE and THAT'S BIZAAR.
Race 12 Coaster's Tavern Sprint - C1 - 295 AKAISHA BALE was crowded by BETTY BOOP on the first bend pushing BOTANY ANN onto COOL'S THE TUNE with COOL'S THE TUNE then getting onto the heels of GUINEAS GIRL.
Race 13 Barron's Supplies Stakes - C0 - 520 RULEBOOK RAY ran into the back of ALCATRAZ BOY racing into the first bend.
Race 14 Addington Events Centre Dash - C2 - 295 SILENT WHISPER was a stride slow to begin.
Race 15 Pick 6 Leg 1 - C1 - 520 Shortly after the start GRANT A STAR hit the rail. GRANT A STAR was subjected to a post race veterinary check which revealed which revealed a small skin wound to the left elbow which needed to be stapled. BEEJAY'S MATE was subjected to a post race veterinary inspection that revealed right hand side sesamoid pain.
Race 16 Coalgate Tavern Sprint - C2 - 295 As the field entered the top bend BUSINESS TIME ran out causing interference to ROTKARA LUCY. An inquiry was opened into the performance of BUSINESS TIME under rule 38.3(a). After viewing the video and receiving evidence from Luke Phillips (trainers representative) and Lesley Roberts (veterinary surgeon) BUSINESS TIME was cleared. The stewards gave BUSINESS TIME the benefit of the doubt in this instance but ordered the greyhound to perform a satisfactory trial under rule 81.1. At a post race veterinary inspection BUSINESS TIME was found to have an injury to a wrist and was sore across the back and a 14 day stand down was imposed.
Race 17 www.racingdogs.co.nz Sprint - C3 - 295 Both CRUISE TO CAPRI and ICE BALL were slow to begin. Racing into the first bend LIAM TITLE checked MULBERRY NIPPER. Shortly after the start LIAM TITLE pushed CAFE CAPRI onto MR FUGLES. MR FUGLES was checked on two further occasions by LIAM TITLE. On the point of the turn MR FUGLES appeared to break down. As a result of injuries sustained MR FUGLES was euthanased.
Race 18 Dave Robbie Photographer Stakes - C3 - 520 The favourite DELUSIONIST was crowded around the first bend by INGA THE WINGER and lost a little ground, however she rallied well to finish second.
Race 19 Speight's Six Pack - C2 - 520 MARKY BLUE was 1.7 kg down in weight from his previous start. Trainer G.A.Cleeve requested a pre race veterinary inspection on MARKY BLUE as he was slightly concerned about the weight loss. The vet cleared MARKY BLUE to start. Eventual winner LIZZY LEE ran in shortly after the start pushing NATALIA BALE and VICTORY CHEERS towards the rail. MARKY BLUE was checked by GENISTA SUMMER at the winning post the first time and hit the rail. A post race veterinary check was carried out on MARKY BLUE which revealed no abnormalities.
