Weather: Fine
Track: Good With gale force winds throughout day it proved difficult to water and maintain the moisture in the track, but despite this the surface held up well during the meeting. The water pump failed early in the programme and watering was carried out by the Harness Racing water cart which provided a wetter surface than desirable, but repairs to the pump were effected and watering for the last half of the programme was normal.

Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Handler P.Seque admitted a charge of failure to effectively control a greyhound in his charge when the dog escaped from his van prior to the start of the meeting and he was fined $50 under Rule 110.5.

Race 1	ADVANCE PET NUTRITION SPRINT - C1 - 295	TOKEN RAGE ran wide on the turn and lost ground to finish towards the rear.
Race 2	CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL UP STAKES - C0 - 520	OPAWA SPEED was slow to jump and well back into the first bend but finished strongly to win. Into the first bend GOZO DANCER moved outwards and hit WARRIOR WIKI with both dogs going back through the field to finish back in the field. Into the back straight UNO JEWEL crossed over and checked DA BOSS who lost momentum but ran on strongly late for second.
Race 3	HELEN & BRIAN CANTWELL SPRINT - C1 - 295	SPIN A TITLE was very slow to jump and lost several lengths. On the turn BUICK BERNIE checked out off the rear of JULINSKY and struck PALOMINE.
Race 4	www.duvauchellehotelmotel.co.nz STAKES - C0 - 520	Shortly after the jump PRINCESS MILLY crossed over and checked the running of TIME CATCHER. Into the home straight a tiring COOL TART drifted back and checked OPAWA BROOKE who lost momentum but ran on well for fourth. Following the race PRINCESS MILLY was subject to a veterinary check which revealed soreness to the left triceps muscle with a seven day stand down recommended.
Race 5	Shirley Veterinary Dash Heat 1 - C0q - 295 Heat 1	Due to a failure of the water pump the track was watered prior to the race by the Harness Racing water cart and the surface was wetter than usual. REAL SLIM SHADY missed the jump and lost all chances to finish back in the field. Into the turn LAUREN'S LEGACY crossed over and struck CAWBOURNE QUICK who stumbled on the wet surface and went back on top of a trailing TOYA. CAWBOURNE QUICK was subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed pain in the right hock with a 21 day stand down recommended.
Race 6	Shirley Veterinary Dash Heat 2 - C0q - 295 Heat 2	In the run to the turn KAIAPOI JADE eased off the rail and checked the running of HOMEBUSH WIGGLE who went back on top of LESTER with both dogs losing all chances to finish well back.
Race 7	Shirley Veterinary Dash Heat 3 - C0q - 295 Heat 3	In the run to the turn STICK'S TOO was tightened and checked off the rear of HOMEBUSH KALAMA before striking GO BOOF and pushing that dog sideways with these dogs filling the last three placings.
Race 8	Shirley Veterinary Dash Heat 4 - C0q - 295 Heat 4	CAWBOURNE WAYNE went up with the starting box lids and lost several lengths before running on late for fourth. In the run to the turn ARROW OF ARTEMIS pushed outwards and checked the running of the favourite CAFE CAPRI who lost momentum but ran on well for second.
Race 9	KOLORFUL KANVAS DASH - C1 - 295	BAMBOOZLA was tightened on the inside in the run to the turn and went back through the field impeding the running of ROYAL ADONIS and SILENT STRYKER with these dogs filling the last three placings.

Race 11	www.canterburyproperty.co.nz Stakes Heat 2 - C1q - 520 Heat 2	All clear.
Race 12	www.canterburyporperty.co.nz Stakes Heat 3 - C1q - 520 Heat 3	DIARACK was slow to jump and then checked by DAIMLER DAVE. Into the first turn DAIMLER DAVE checked off the rear of OPAWA MEGASTAR and lost ground to finish well back in the field. BE POSITIVE was subject to a veterinary check after the race which revealed left triceps muscle soreness with a 7 day stand down recommended.
Race 13	www.canterburyproperty.co.nz Stakes Heat 4 - C1q - 520 Heat 4	From the jump GLENMORE LASS moved outwards and checked the running of DEVOTCHKA. Into the first turn GLENMORE LASS again ran outwards with a resultant check to BIBI DAHL who fell but regained her feet to finish in seventh place.
Race 14	www.canterburyproperty.co.nz Stakes Heat 5 - C1q - 520 Heat 5	BILLYBOB RAY was given permission to box first under Rule 72.10. Into the first turn BILLYBOB RAY received a severe check when tightened by AMBER DERVISH and lost all chances to finish well back in the field.
Race 15	BE BACK FRIDAY NIGHT DASH - C1 - 295	From the jump TURBO PRINCE, LEO'S BOY and HANNAH BRAND came together with TURBO PRINCE and HANNAH BRAND losing ground to finish at the rear.
