| Race 1 | MANAWATU - YOUNG HEART EASY LIVING - C1 - 375 | The start was delayed slightly after it was discovered that ZAZU BOY had been placed in the 1 box with its collar on and in the interest of fairness to all, the other boxed dogs were taken out while the collar was removed. The Handler R. Dempsey was spoken to advisedly and warned that a repitition of the lack of concentration would result in a charge being preferred. LIFE BECKONS jumped inwards at the start and crowded CASANRA BALE, ALONG CAME POLLY and I'M A FOOL for a few strides until he cleared them. |
| Race 2 | SPORTS LODGE MOTEL, WANGANUI - C1 - 375 | The favourite OHAU WILLEE was a little slow to begin and then raced wide over extra ground on the bend and was bumped on the home turn when BLUE WATCH moved out sharply. OHAU WILLEE then finished well for 4th place. The 2nd dog THRILLING FELIX was observed to be lame on return to the birdcage and was examined by the Vet and stood down for 7 days with a pectoral muscle injury.
