Race 1	ALLIED WORK FORCE 0800 LABOUR - C0 - 305	HE'S A LION ran in from the start and caused jostling to THRILLING KADEE and THRILLING RAY for a few strides. FLYIN' KAZI was checked on the first corner losing several lengths and she stayed back to finish in 2nd last place. PRINCESS CHOLET ran very wide on the bend and into the straight and this probably cost her the chance of a closer placing than 3rd. UPAHUT ZORRO Udy & McCracken Rule 64 Suffering from torn a shoulder muscle and stood down for 7 days to and including 06.07.09
Race 2	MEDIA WORKS - C0q - 520 Heat 1	TYPHOON PETE ran in from the start and checked COAL COLLECT who settled back. TYPHOON PETE then bumped KARAMU THUNDER starting on the first bend and soon after checked over the heels of UPAHUT CRYSTAL and moved out and bumped PETITE ROSE who was pushed wide. TYPHOON PETE stayed well back to finish in 2nd last place.
Race 3	MICKEYS SUPER LIQUOR - C0q - 520 Heat 1	TEN BY FIFTY was down 1.9 kilograms from its last Tote race start which was 3 months previous and the Trainer stated that he was surprised by the decrease in weight but was happy that the dog was well. The Vets inspection confirmed TEN BY FIFTY was fit to run and she finished well for 2nd place. BLUE STRATA was checked at the start and lost ground. BOB LEE SWAGGER was bumped and checked from the inside on the first corner and pushed out onto BLUE STRATA with both losing several lengths. BLUE STRATA did not appear to be striding out correctly and finished in 2nd last place and was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury. ROLL UP F.Herbert Rule 64 Suffering from a carpal ligament sprain and a toe nail infection and stood down for 10 days to and including 09.07.09 THRILLING JOKER S.Gommans Rule 64 Suffering from a serious tail injury and has been euthanased by a Vet on humane grounds.
Race 4	GARY ROSS DECORATOR - C0q - 520 Heat 1	POUTAMA RAMA was 2.5 kilograms down on his last race weight which was one month previous. New Trainer B.Cole stated that the reduction was intentional as he felt the dog was above its optimum racing weight when he took over the training. The dog was passed fit to race by the Vet and won the event. UPAHUT CITY was a little slow to begin and was then checked on the first corner and again on the first bend and he never recovered and finished in 2nd last place.
Race 5	GEON WELLINGTON - C1 - 305	HAGLER started from box 2 and was tightened when racing adjacent to the rail in the run to the first corner. He then recovered and finished well for 2nd place. The two favourites BIGTIME BAND and LAURIE'S BEST led to the first corner but then collided losing several lengths and they finished in 5th and 7th places. VIOLET JAZZ was slow to begin and was then checked when running into the back off LAURIE'S BEST as that dog came back and she finished in last place. CAWBOURNE SERENE Ex Manawatu on 29.06.09.
Race 6	KEENAN CONCRETE 6 PACK - C1 - 520	One of the favourites BIGTIME COWELL was one of the slowest away and then ran wide on the first bend over extra ground and he stayed well back to finish in last place.
Race 7	GUTHRIE BOWRON WANGANUI - C1/2d - 645	GROOVY SHOT began well but drifted back soon after and continued to drift and finished several lengths behind the 2nd last runner. GROOVY SHOT was examined by the vet as a precaution and cleared of injury. BROCKMAN LAD B.Cole Rule 64 Suffering from a sprain to a collateral ligament on right foreleg toe and stood down for 14 days to and including 13.07.09
Race 8	WWW.WANGANUICARCENTRE.COM - C1 - 520	THRILLING TYSON was checked twice on the first bend and again on the last bend when racing onto the heels of STAR SEEKER and he finished in 2nd last place. PURE FURY W.Kite Rule 82 A late scratching when found to be suffering from a foreleg muscle injury and stood down for 7 days to and including 07.07.09.
Race 9	BROAD ROOFING SERVICES - C1 - 305	BAYLISS BALE was 1.4 kilograms down on its last start weight which was 10 weeks ago and has since had a change of Trainer. RISING GAS, BIGTIME SLAMMER and ZAZU BOY were all a little slow to begin. RISING GAS galloped on the heels of BAYLISS BALE on the first corner and they both lost several lengths and finished at the rear. BIGIME SLAMMER and ZAZU BOY were also affected in the incident and lost all chance of a placing. BAYLISS BALE was examined by the Vet and stood down for 10 days with a toe injury. WHAT'S UP ADDIS Freeman & Turnwald Rule 64 Suffering from torn triceps right foreleg and stood down for 28 days to and including 27.07.09 CAWBOURNE ANN J.T.McInerney Rule 64 Suffering from a gracilus muscle injury and stood down for 21 days to and including 20.07.09. BAYLISS BALE J.Woolston Bell Rule 82 Checked and suffered a toe injury and stood down for 10 days to and including 10.07.09.
Race 10	WANGANUI FARM SUPPLIES SPECIAL FEATURE - C1 - 305	LISSADELL SAM ran out soon after the start and pushed ZIC ZAC MAN onto THRILLING BRIT and LISSADELL SAM then dropped back to last and stayed there to the finish. JONNY MARCO checked off the heels of SERGEANT SCREAM on the first corner and lost ground and he stayed back and finished in 2nd last place. ONLY WAY OUT Freeman & Turnwald Rule 64 Suffering from a sprained medial hock offside hind and stood down for 28 days to and including 27.07.09 CAWBOURNE POINTA J.T.McInerney Rule 68 A late scratching when found to be suffering from an infected toe and stood down for 5 days to and including 05.07.09.
