Judicial report: Weather: Cloudy Trainer J.Dunn was given permission to scratch seven Greyhounds with no penalty imposed This was due to the very bad weather causing severe disruption to Inter Island ferry sailings over the weekend which prevented Mr Dunn from returning to his home from the Wanganui meeting on 22.05.09 in sufficient time to safely return to Manawatu.
Trainer K.Cox was issued with a final warning after being late to kennel his dog TALKABOUT BLISS.

Race 2 BURLACE & PAIN, PANELBEATERS - C0 - 457 RURAL LADY was slow to begin losing three lengths. She then bumped with BIGTIME COWELL and SHEZA RATBAG on the first corner and all three dogs lost a little ground. PRETTY SECRET J.Dunn Rule 64.5 Scratched with a valid reason with no penalty. CHOKE J.Dunn Rule 64.5 Scratched with a valid reason with no penalty. HOBSON'S LAW Freeman & Turnwald Rule 64 Suffering from a hock injury and stood down for 7 days to and including 29.05.09.
Race 3 DELTA DRAINAGE & WATER SERVICES - C2 - 375 CRYSTAL VIRUS began awkwardly and scrambled from the boxes losing several lengths and she tailed the field throughout the race.
Race 4 SPORTS LODGE MOTEL, WANGANUI - C1f - 375 PENE'S FROM ran in soon after the start and bumped MACAU who was pushed inwards and lost a momentum. Macau recovered to race around the outside of PENE'S FROM and finished just ahead of her in 2nd place. CAPTAIN BOYCOTT B.Cole Rule 64 Suffering from a tricep injury and stood down for 14 days to and including 06.06.09. GENISTA ROCKET J.Dunn Rule 64.5 Scratched with a valid reason with no penalty. THRILLING TASHA B.Hunt Rule 63.10 Scratched under the 100 kilometre rule. MISS TORI Udy & McCracken Rule 68 A late scratching when found to be suffering from a quadricep injury and stood down for 7 days to and including 31.05.09.
Race 5 MANAWATU SOUND SERVICE - C5 - 375 BACK DRAUGHT ran in from the start and caused checks to DANDALOO BLUE, TRIAL BAY and SAMUEL BAXTER and they lost ground and settled in the last three places. DANDALOO BLUE was on a forward move approaching the straight entrance but had to check over the heels of BACK DRAUGHT and moved out and collided with SAMUEL BAXTER and they lost ground and finished in the last two places.
Race 6 OUTBACK TRADING COMPANY LTD - C5 - 457 The favourite DIAMOND ZAC jumped well to be handy but soon after began to drop back and was last rounding the bend and stayed in that position to the finish. DIAMOND ZAC was examined by the Vet and stood down for 7 days with pain in a hock which had been operated on some time ago. DIAMOND ZAC is also required to complete a Satisfactory Trial and undergo a thorough Veterinary examination before his next raceday start. FANCY ALEX D.Schofield Rule 64 Suffering from an infected paw and stood down for 7 days to and including 30.05.09. SUZY MAC A & J. Hall Rule 64 Suffering from abdominal pain and stood down for 7 days to and including 30.05.09. Papers to be endorsed. WINSOME FLYER J.Dunn Rule 64.5 Scratched with a valid reason with no penalty. DIAMOND ZAC B.Cole Rule 82 Suffering from pain in a hock and stood down for 7 days to and including 31.05.09. Required to undergo a satisfactory trial under Rule 81.1 and also to pass a thorough Vet check before his next start.
Race 7 MORRIE GIBBONS SIGNS - C4 - 375 WONGAWILLINEV was slow to begin and settled in last place. He then checked over the heels of CAWBOURNE CROWN on the first corner losing further ground and finished in 2nd last place. GUNNADOO KNIGHT Ex Wanganui on 22.05.09.
Race 8 WEENHAM GRAIN & SEED - C1 - 457 The lure run up for this race was in excess of the recommended time due to the Starter being distracted when TRAVEL HAPPY proved difficult to load into the boxes and the green light was not activated correctly. The Stewards were of the opinion that no runner was inconvenienced by the incident and permission to pay was given. TRAVEL HAPPY was the last to jump from the boxes and then drifted back to finish several lengths behind the 2nd last dog. He was examined by the Vet and stood down for 7 days with a pad injury. LAGOON BABE was checked on the first corner losing three lengths and she then ran wide over extra ground and finished in 2nd last place. One of the favourites OHAU WILLEE ran very wide over extra ground in the back straight and around the bend and finished in 6th place. THRILLING LARK Gained a start in race 4. DARK SAGE B.Cole Rule 64 Suffering from a toe injury and stood down for 7 days to and including 30.05.09. TRAVEL HAPPY P.Blanche Rule 82 Suffered a pad injury and stood down for 7 days to and including 31.05.09.
Race 9 RADIO TRACKSIDE 828AM MANAWATU - C3 - 375 NO DRAMA DON was checked on the first corner losing three lengths but then recovered to make up ground to finish in 6th place.
Race 10 AP1 METROLOGY, PALMERSTON NORTH - C3 - 457 One of the favourites THRILLING ALI was checked soon after the start losing three lengths. He then made up ground until clipped from behind by BLACK IS BACK on the bend and he lost a little momentum but then ran on reasonably well for 4th place. GENISTA BRAVE J.Dunn Rule 64.5 Scratched with a valid reason with no penalty. LAGOON LAD J.McInerney Rule 64 Suffering from gastroenteritis and stood down for 7 days to and including 30.05.09.
