Judicial report: Weather: Overcast Handler PG Lowen was warned after a commnication error between him and trainer MP Mann resulted in him failing to catch THRILLING CHASE as arranged. His explanation was accepted in this case but he was informed that any further breach would result in a charge being laid.
Handler K Wilson was fined $50.00 after she admitted a breach of Rule 71.4 in that she failed to catch THRILLING SNOW as arranged.
MEDIA MOGUL successfully completed a trial under lights after the last race.
Handler PG Lowen was reminded of his obligations of standing back from the boxes after loading his dog.

Race 1 | CATCH RESTAURANT SPRINT - C3 - 318 | This race was delayed by five minutes due to the lure needing to be replaced. RANUI was the last to jump. Approaching the bend STREET TALL was tightened and stumbled on the inside with RANUI being severely checked at this stage. Both dogs were sent for post race veterinary checks that revealed no injury to either dog. DEVIL'S COUNTY (BDF Craik) left hip pain and joint pain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 1 May 2009. CLEAR CONQUEST (BDF Craik) was a late scratching at kennelling with a haematoma on his right shoulder. Rule 68.26. 10 days up to and including 5 May 2009. |
Race 2 | OWNAGREYHOUND.CO.NZ STAKES - C0 - 527 | COMET PRINCESS was tightened back to the rear soon after the jump and then badly checked when improving at the end of the back straight losing ground. She ran on for fifth. Following the race KARAMU THUNDER was observed to be limping with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. |
Race 3 | MEADOWSET GRAPHICS STAKES - C3 - 527 | CAWBOURNE BELLE was awkwardly away from the inside losing some ten lengths. On the first bend RASMAH was held up for room in behind runners and received a check settling well back. He ran on well for second. |
Race 4 | PROTECTOR SAFETY SPRINT - C2 - 318 | BIGTIME DANCER was slow to jump. HALSTROM BALE ran inwards into the bend pushing KINSALE LAD up against the rail with both dogs losing ground. HALSTROM BALE then ran out after contact was made and pushed BIGTIME DANCER wide around that bend. A post race veterinary check of KINSALE LAD revealed no injury. |
Race 5 | $20,000 PICK6 STAKES - C1 - 527 | TALAVERO, LEGALLY BINDING and CAWBOURNE SPEED were all tightened into the first bend as outside runners crossed to the rail. Of these CAWBOURNE SPEED made ground late for fifth. |
Race 6 | THE BROWNZY SPORTS BAR STAKES - C1 - 527 | CAWBOURNE SERENE was slow to jump and then checked back to last in the early rush. Pacemaker PICCADILLY LINE ran wide in the entrance to the back straight and was then checked on the home turn as BILLY THUNDER pushed up on her inner and pushed her wider. She ran on well when balanced for a close second. |
Race 7 | GREYHOUNDS AS PETS STAKES - C2 - 527 | CALM RIP was tightened between runners into the first bend and together with TEE KAY GIRL ran wide and lost ground. HOMEBUSH BUBBLES (JR Udy) right quadriceps injury. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 14 days up to and including 8 May 2009. THRILLING ALERT (K Walsh) right quadriceps sprain. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 2 May 2009 NEREZZA (LD Martin) kennel cough. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 28 days up to and including 23 May 2009. |
Race 8 | COMMERCIAL PLUMBING STAKES - C4/5 - 527 | THRILLING WOLF was slow to jump but ran home well for second. SPY POWERS was keen to get off the fence into the first bend and in doing so checked kennelmate CAWBOURNE TIGER on his outside who lost some ground. |
Race 9 | JACK'S WHOLESALE MEATS SIX PACK - C5 - 318 | TWIST MIST and STAR CONQUEST came together into the bend with TESS TOKAAM receiving a check in behind them. These dogs all lost ground. SWINGING ZORRO (SP Clark) was a late scratching at kennelling with a nail bed infection. Rule 68.26. 7 days up to and including 2 May 2009. |
Race 10 | THE ALAMO BAR & TAB SPRINT - C3/4 - 318 | FORWARD SOLUTION was handy until the bend but ran wide and lost ground. ENSIGN (GB Darcy) grazed pad. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 3 May 2009. |
