Judicial report: Weather: Fine An inquiry under Rules 64.2 and 64.5 into the scratching of DON THE HOP (JR Goode) a starter in Race 7 was opened and adjourned for hearing at Christchurch on 28 April 2009.
The inquiry adjourned at Christchurch on 14 April 2009 against GROOVE ARMADA (JT McInerney) was reconvened. Trainer JT McInerney reported the dog's injury was to the underside of his right front pad and in viewing the film stated it was his opinion that the injury had been sustained on jumping from the boxes and affected his stride resulting in him running outwards for the entire race. On the basis of his explanation and observations on film the charge was found not proven.

Race 1 PAWS INN BOARDING KENNEL SPRINT - C3 - 310 MUNGO, BRAVE ENDEAVOUR and HOMER HAND were all slow to jump. Into the turn MUNGO checked off the rear of THEMELO and lost ground.
Race 2 SPEEDPRINT SPRINT - C0 - 310 COOL'S THE TUNE and FANTASY GRACE lost ground from the jump. In the run to the turn PAULA GRACE ran inwards and checked PALOMINE then into the turn GLENMORE LASS crossed over from the outside and checked the running of PALOMINE who went back to last where he finished.
Race 3 BROCKLEBANK DRY CLEANERS STAKES - C0 - 545 Into the turn INDIANA GIRL ran outwards and lost momentum. TIPPY TIPSTAR crossed over and checked WILLY JUNIOR and GREAT KAY'S with these two dogs colliding and WILLY JUNIOR losing all chances to finish last. WEE WILLY WINKY (P&T Hammond) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 26 April 2009.
Race 4 COUPLANDS BAKERY FIRST4 - C1 - 310 DOUGSTAR JAKE was slow to jump and when improving into and around the bend ran outwards forcing THRILLING RITA and BARBER'S GIRL wide.
Race 5 A F JOHNSTONE ELECTICAL STAKES - C1 - 545 As the lure approached the starting boxes the lid was forced open by the dog in the number 1 position with that dog pushing half its body through the side of the boxes. The lid was forced open along the entire width with several other dogs having their feet on the matting in front of the boxes. After reviewing the video coverage the stewards agreed that several dogs, most notably the number one greyhound, were disadvantaged and accordingly the race was declared a No Race under Rule 76.1 due to the mechanical failure of the starting boxes. CAP FANTASTIC (JT McInerney) stood down Wanganui GRC on 17 April 2009. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 26 April 2009.
Race 6 NZRS #5 GRADUATION FINAL - RESf - 545 BERT BADGER and MARK BLUE were slow to leave the boxes. On the first turn WEE SHADOW ran out wide and forced BERT BADGER wider on the track.
Race 7 KEYOSK SERVICE BAR SPRINT - C1 - 310 TEDDY NOVA checked out off BABE'S BOY around the first bend losing ground. DON THE HOP (JR Goode) inquiry opened and adjourned under Rules 64.2 and 64.5.
Race 8 ANZAC SPRINT - C1 - 310 BOY BUGLER was slow to jump. Into the turn ETOILE NOIR ran outwards and forced BLACK MUSKAT wide on the track with both dogs tailing off to finish at the rear. SOICHIRO (JT McInerney) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 29 April 2009. HE'S SO FINE (AD Williams) pharyngitis. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 26 April 2009. HOMEBUSH ELTON (JT McInerney) withdrawn under Rule 63.10. No penalty.
Race 9 GREEN ISLAND BARBER SPRINT - C4/5 - 310 DAMO'S ANGEL ran wide around the bend losing ground. Into the straight BOTANY ADAM moved towards the rail resulting in CAWBOURNE BLUE striking his heels losing ground.
Race 10 GREEN ISLAND BARBER SPRINT - C4/5 - 310 CAWBOURNE HAPPY was tightened soon after the start. Into the bend LIAM BALE tightened BIONIC DREAM, CALL ME, REMUS and TASHA'S GIRL on his inner, all four losing ground.
