Judicial report: Weather: Overcast Trainer PG Lowen reported to the stewards at 11.15am that an incident involving his vehicle on route to the track meant that he could not make it to the meeting. His expanation was accepted and the dogs were scratched without penalty.

Race 1 LECTRO HAIR & BEAUTY DASH - C3 - 318 AGENT WHALE was checked as NUTTY SQUIRREL headed for the rail soon after the jump with AGENT WHALE hitting the rail twice and dropping to the rear. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury.
Race 2 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS DASH - C0 - 318 THRILLING LILLI and THRILLING BLADE came together after fifty metres with THRILLING LILLI pulling up after appearing to be dragged down. A post race veterinary check of THRILLING LILLI revealed no injury. After consultation with Glen Quirk, the person in charge of the Greyhound, THRILLING LILLI was ordered to undertake a satisfactory trial under Rule 81.1 JULIE MAY ran outwards into the bend as THRILLING DOLL raced up on her inside and JULIE MAY appeared to be dragged down by LOONEY MAGIC. This caused checks to LEFT JAB, CARIBBEAN EBONY and CARIBBEAN JACK. Unfortunately the head on view was unclear as to exactly what transpired with a post race veterinary check of JULIE MAY revealing a cut right dew claw requiring sutures with a ten day stand down recommended. JULIE MAY (MP Mann) cut right dew claw requiring sutures. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 28 April 2009. THRILLING LILLI (K Walsh) ordered to undertake a satisfactory trial under Rule 81.1
Race 3 TRUST CHARITABLE STAKES - C0 - 527 NOTHIN' BUT BLUE was the last to jump. Tightening into the first bend caused CYCLONE CLYDE and DAPPER to be checked with CYCLONE CLYDE being dragged down and nearly falling. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury. CAWBOURNE SNOWY (CJ Derecourt) stood down at Waikato and Districts GRC on 16 April 2009. Rule 82.1. 5 days up to and including 20 April 2009.
Race 4 TROPHIES PLUS DASH - C1 - 318 This race was delayed by one minute at the request of Raceday control. THRILLING IRIS was slow to jump. THRILLING HONEY was dragged down by THRILLING GOLD into the bend with both dogs losing ground. THRILLING TASHA (BA Hunt) stood down at Wanganui GRC on 15 April 2009. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 24 April 2009. HITMAN FRED (PG Lowen) was a late scratching at 11.15am when the trainer reported transport difficulties on route to the track. Rule 64.5. No penalty.
Race 5 $20,000 PICK6 STAKES - C4 - 318 THRILLING WOLF and FAST STASS were tightened in the run to the bend with FAST STASS also being dragged down and losing ground. A post race veterinary check of her revealed grazes and bruised left quadriceps with a ten day stand down recommended. TERROR JIM (PG Lowen) was a late scratching at 11.15am when the trainer reported transport difficulties on route to the track. Rule 64.5. No penalty. FAST STASS (DD Schofield) grazes and bruised left quadriceps. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 28 April 2009.
Race 6 THE ALAMO BAR & TAB STAKES - C1 - 527 PISTOL SUNRISE was tightened into the first bend. The winner PICCADILLY LINE ran wide into all of the bends losing ground but when balanced ran on strongly. This dogs manners are to be closely watched in the future.
Race 7 TERRY RYAN TIMBER SPRINT - C5 - 318 Severe tightening into the bend caused DEVILS MARBELS, SYDENHAM SMITH and FLYING CHAMELEON all to be checked and lose their chances. LONGFORD ANNIE (NP Green) left hind digit 2 and pad injury/infection. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 28 April 2009.
Race 8 THE BROWNZY SPORTS BAR STAKES - C1 - 527 MEDIA MOGUL checked outwards sharply on the home turn taking the line of MILVALE BALE with both dogs losing ground.
Race 9 PACIFIC SHEET & COIL (NZ) STAKES - C1/2 - 527 This race was delayed by eight minutes due to a bank of track lights not warming up. TALEVERO ran outwards on the first bend checking THRILLING NEO while on the home turn RASMAH ran outwards looking for room and checked THRILLING ALERT for a stride.
Race 10 BARRY VAUGHAN FAREWELL - C2 - 318 PARK RED was tightened along the rail and lost ground finishing at the rear. COINCIDE (PG Lowen) was a late scratching at 11.15am when the trainer reported transport difficulties on the route to the track. Rule 64.5. No penalty.
