Stipendiary Stewards Report

Otago Greyhound Racing Club

Forbury Park Raceway ON THURSDAY 09 Apr 2009

Weather:
Track: Slow
Scales: Correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment: Nearly all races throughout the program had excessively long lures which provided problems for the maiden dogs in particular. With the transfer of the Forbury Trotting Club's meeting to Addington, the club's lure driver K MacFarlane was required by the trotting club at Addington and so was unavailable to drive the lure resulting in M Eade stepping into the position at the last minute. He had difficulty with the lure controls which are entirely different from those at Southland, and resulted in him being unable to maintain a reasonable distance between the lure and leading dog. This situation highlights the breach of the NZGRA rules by clubs in not having an experienced back up lure driver for situations such as this as well as sickness. This club is not alone in this regard.

Judicial report: Weather: Cold and overcast Trainer JF ALLEN was warned under Rule 81.1 regarding the actions of INDIANA GIRL in Race 2.
Trainer CJ WEIR was warned under Rule 71.2 when late to prepare his dog SILENT STRYKER for Race 5. He confirmed that he was delayed when kennelling 2 dogs during the 2nd kennelling which coincided with the start of Race 5.
Trainer AH LEE was warned under Rule 81.1. regarding the actions of ELIE SAAB in Race 7.
