Judicial report: Weather: fine Trainer Mr P Freeman was questioned about the late scratching of the dog RANUI from race one on todays card.
He advised the stewards that prior to loading up the dog to travel , he found that the dog had reopened and old injury and it looked infected
The dog was presented to the vet on course Mr Jansen who confirmed this , so the trainers explanation was excepted this time----------.

Race 1	ALLIED WORK FORCE 0800 LABOUR - C1/2 - 305	BITTA ZIP was slow away ,then got a good run through the field to finish up in 3rd position at the line Soon after the start there was jostling between SPOTTED ALLEGO,GOES SCIROCCO and HOMEBUSH JAZZ for a few strides RANUI was a late scratching due to opening and old toe wound prior to leaving for the race meeting RANUI Freeman & Turnwald Late scratching infected toe on d3 right front leg dog presented vet cert supplied Rule 68.26.14 days stand down to and including 26.03.09
Race 2	MICKEYS SUPER LIQUOR - C1 - 520	There was no head on coverage for this race ROBBITY BOB had to check back off the heels of DANCING TESSA as they went in to the first turn,SKIPPER LADY was racing in behind and had to run out wide to avoid these dogs
Race 3	BILDERBECK CONSTRUCTION LTD - C4/5 - 305	Soon after the start CAWBOURNE KERRY came across as SET IN STONE came out causing SHARIMORE and BACK DRAUGHT to be checked and lose ground On the top bend BACK DRAUGHT was checked again when avoiding the heels of CAWBOURNE KERRY and could not get back in to contention from ther on in----------.
Race 4	CROMBIE LOCKWOOD (NZ) LTD - C2/3 - 520	This race was put back two minutes at the request of the T.A.B Soon after the start BUNNY'S REWARD came across fast causing severe tightning to ADDIS JAY,THRILLING ASH and DEL TONES who all lost ground back to the rear On the top bend THRILLING ASH was checked back again by DEL TONES and lost momentum finishing in last position at the line, he was sent for a vet check as a precaution ,no abnormalities were found-- THRILLING SKITZ was a scratching ,gained a start in race six--------. THRILLING SKITZ Gained a start in race six .
Race 5	VITA POWER - C4 - 305	Soon after the start CAB DRIVER came across on to KARISAMORE as CLASSIC BEN came out onto WILL ZAM for several strides On the top bend WILL ZAM lost his position and was checked again by CLASSIC BEN as this dog went down to the rail. WILL ZAM beat one runner home and was sent for a vet check , was found to have suffered some superficial grazing to left hind leg ,no stand down required. GUNNADOO KNIGHT Freeman & Turnwald Mild pain in both stopper bones dog presented vet cert supplied Rule 64.12.7 days stand down to and including 19.03.09.
Race 6	KEENAN CONCRETE 6 PACK - C1d - 645	CHIVAS REGAL was a scratching due to wrist pain PORCELAIN GIRL was subject to a vet check at the trainers request and was found to have suffered a spike wound and was given a 14 days stand down. CHIVAS REGAL Udy & McCraken Pain in left wrist dog presented vet cert supplied Rule 64.12.14 days stand down to and including 25.03.09. PORCELAIN GIRL L Ahern Spike wound Rule 82.1 14 days stand down to and including 26.03.09.
Race 7	NEW ZEALAND RACING SERIES FINAL - RESf - 520	Racing in to the first turn CHILE TART and JIMMY HALL came together for a few strides costing them ground ,which they make up throughout the running and filled the last two places at the line CRAFTY FLYNN was a scratching due to nails on his back feet being worn down CRAFTY FLYNN G Cleeve Nails on back feet worn down vet cert supplied Rule 64.12.14 days stand down to and including 25.03.09.
Race 8	WWW.WANGANUICARCENTRE.COM - C4/5 - 520	At the start VARVATOS (fav) was awkwardly away from the boxes ,then came out and collided with WINSOME DIGNITY which knocked him off stride and losing ground VARVATOS then took a while to gain clear racing room , but when he did late he ran on well for 2nd placing at the line. On entering the first turn CAWBOURNE WILKO had to check back off the heels of MAGIC CITY and lost a few lengths at that point
Race 9	WANGANUI SECURITY SERVICES - C5 - 305	Soon after the start ALLEGRO VISION came across the face of the field as TOMMIE NATE came out causing tightning to RYMOR REASON and CAWBOURNE STACEY who was squeezed back to the rear and could not get in to contention from there on in and finished in last position at the line On entering the first turn STAR CONQUEST came across on to HIFI ALLEGRO who lost a couple of lengths , but was able to overcome this and run on to win well .
Race 10	ONYA BIKE MICK O'REGAN - C3 - 305	Halfway down to the first turn there was tightning and jostling between JUST LIKE BEE,MISSING BEEN,PHANTOM FOG and BIGTIME WORLD as they tried to get clear of each other. JUST LIKE BEE was able to get clear of this the best and ran on for 2nd placing at the line MISSING BEEN could not get clear racing room after the earlier incident and was held up for a greater portion of the race and was unlucky not be finish a lot closer
