Judicial report: Weather: Overcast LA GRANT was warned for a breach of Rule 70.5 as a result of leaving the kennel block with WILL YAduring the kennelling process.
An inquiry was opened and adjourned pending further inquiries into the delay in loading dogs away for the start of Race 9, the Wilson's Sports Bar and Dash.

Race 1 | ADVANCE PERFORMANCE SPRINT - C1 - 295 | WILLY'S PRIDE tightened MULBERRY KING into the bend. Soon after GRANT A CHANCE was tightened by dogs on his outer resulting in him checking out and colliding with BRAVE ENDEAVOUR, both losing all chance. STUMPY RELTUB who led into the bend ran wide into the home straight losing ground. BRAVE ENDEAVOUR was subject to a veterinary check which revealed a right hock strain and grazing to his inner left hind leg with a 14 day stand down recommended. BRAVE ENDEAVOUR (Hart/Taylor) right hock strain and left hind grazing. Rule 82.1. 14 days up to and including 23 February 2009. |
Race 2 | CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL UP DASH - C1 - 295 | All clear. |
Race 3 | CHRISTCHURCH SECURITY SERVICES STAKES - C0 - 520 | JOHNNY DUNNIT and ALBIE'S STAR were tightened into the first bend losing ground. Around the bend TIME CATCHER and ALBIE'S STAR came together for a few strides. HOMEBUSH CLARIE who led until turning for home was crossed by BOTANY ADAM in the home straight being checked for a stride or two. She was subject to a veterinary check which revealed nothing amiss. DIARACK (D Kingston) ligament sprain to outside toe right hind. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 21 days up to and including 1 March 2009. |
Race 4 | HAMPDEN TAVERN DASH - C1 - 295 | NO SLEEP and HAILSTONE HARLY came together son after the start. Into the bend NO SLEEP checked out off THRILLING JAZZ losing ground to finish last. MULBERRY MADAM ran out towards the centre of the track turning for home losing ground. NO SLEEP was subject to a veterinary check which revealed right hock pain with a 10 day stand down recommended. NO SLEEP (MM Grant) right hock pain. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 19 February 2009. |
Race 5 | CELTIC ARMS DASH - C2 - 295 | The short priced favourite jumped towards the rear of the field running on mid track for 2nd. Soon after the start MOJAVE MICK ran outwards colliding with ROBTITLE who lost ground. Into the bend JIMMY COOL was tightened by BOY GENIUS on his outer losing ground before being struck from behind by ROBTITLE and falling. Soon after MULBERRY NIPPER ran wide off the hindquarters of ANOTHER BAXTER losing ground. JIMMY COOL regained his feet to finish the race. Both dogs were subject to veterinary checks with no injury found with either dog. |
Race 6 | ADDINGTON EVENTS CENTRE STAKES - C1 - 520 | DEAR ABBEY ran out towards the cente of the track after the start settling last. Into the back straight SISTER DEE faultered when racing near the rear and pulled up. A veterinary check revealed a fractured hock resulting in her euthanasia on humane grounds. SISTER DEE (HG Cairns) fractured hock. Euthansed. |
Race 7 | KOLORFUL KANVAS SPRINT - C2 - 295 | This race was put back 2 minutes due to a delay in the previous event. KNOW GO turned in the boxes and took no active part in the running finishing a distant last. A box trial in accordance with Rule 72.13. GENISTA SPIRIT (JE Dunn) in season. Rule 64.10. 28 days up to and including 8 March 2009. ANOTHER KERRY (JT McInerney) was a late scratching at kennelling when to be in season. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 68.25. 28 days up to and including 9 March 2009. ROSAMOND (JT McInerney) stood down at Southland GRC meting on 5 March 2009. Rule 82.1. 14 days up to and including 18 February 2009. KNOW GO (GA Cleeve) to undertake a box trial in accordance with Rule 72.13. |
Race 8 | CONTAINERMAN STAKES - C1 - 520 | VIVALDI ROAD was very slow to jump settling a clear last. OHOKA DUKEran out from the rail after the start tightening WILLY BOLT into the first bend. Across the top OHOKA DUKE and WAITUI FURY came together with OHOKA DUKE drifting out to finish last. |
Race 9 | WILSON'S SPORTS BAR & TAB DASH - C0 - 295 | Into the bend WHITEY'S WAY hit the rear of HOMEBUSH KELLY both sustaining checks. As a result HOMEBUSH PERCY, HOMEBUSH KELLY and WILL YA came together losing all chance. |
Race 10 | NUTRI-ZING SPRINT - C0 - 295 | Around the bend MAX FORCE was tightened against the rail drifting out to finish well back. A veterinary check revealed soreness along the back with a 7 day stand down recommended. MAX FORCE (JM Jopson) back sorenes. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 16 February 2009. |
Race 11 | TUESDAY PLACE PICK SPRINT - C3 - 295 | LES BAXTER moved away from the rail into the bend coming in contact with HOMEBUSH BREE and NITRO BINGLE who were all checked and forced MADAME JO JO wide. LES BAXTER ran on for 2nd. |
Race 12 | BILL'S BAR & BISTRO CANTERBURY FUTURITY STAKES - R/Aq - 520 Heat 1 | At kennelling KNOW LOVE was a late scratching when found with a skin wound on the right side of his neck. In explanation trainer GA Cleeve said he noticed a graze on the right side of the neck this morning and bathed it. Bathing made it look worse and a temperature check was fine. Veterinarian Lesley Roberts confirmed that it was likely to be a puncture wound that broke out this morning. The race was free of incident. KNOW LOVE (GA Cleeve) was a late scratching at kennelling with an infected open wound right side of neck. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 68.26. 6 days up to and including 15 February 2009. |
