Judicial report: Weather: Overcast and cool The inquiryadjourned on 20 January 2009 under Rule 68.8 and 68.9 in respect of DEAR ABBEY (C Mitchell) was reconvened. The certificate of registration and weight record card were furnished by trainer C MITCHELL on 22 January 2008, which was within the requirement of the rule. The charge was dismissed.
MM GRANT was fined $50.00 for a breach of Rule 69.11 when NO SLEEP, a starter in Race 2 weighed in 1.3kgs above his last race start weight.
RD BLACKBURN was fined $50.00 for a breach of Rule 69.11 when CARNABY, a starter in Race 5 weighed in 1.3kgs above his last race start weight.
KP LAWRENCE was fined $50.00 for a breach of Rule 69.11 when CLEEVE HILL, a starter in Race 7 weighed in 1.1kgs above his last race start weight.
RW CAIRNS, the handler of CLAN DESPERADO, a starter in Race 11, was formally warned of his responsibilities under Rule 68 in respect of the time for presentation of the greyhound at the kennels.

Race 1 ADVANCE PERFORMANCE DASH - C1 - 295 From the jump TALENT CITY was tightened by NEED A NURSE. Into the bend BANKSIDE LASS moved outwards into the path of CHLOE BEAR who was struck by a trailing TALENT CITY, both sustaining bad checks to finish at the rear. Both were subject to veterinary checks which revealed no injury. GROOVE ARMADA (SR McInerney) was a late scratching at kennelling with a torn toe nail to the right hind. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 68.26. 10 days up to and including 5 February 2009.
Race 2 CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL-UP STAKES - C0 - 520 On the first turn ROYAL LYCAON ran out wide and lost ground. Into the back straight PROTEST LINE ran outwards and struck HARBOUR BALE who went sideways, with both dogs losing all chances to finish towards the rear.
Race 3 NEW ZEALAND RACING SERIES SPRINT #9 - RESq - 295 Heat 1 From the jump GRANT A FORTUNE moved outwards into the path of COASTERZAM who fell heavily and lost all chance to finish last. In the incident MUNGO was also checked and forced ROCKY POCKETS and ZAMMY wide on the track with all three dogs finishing at the back of the field. COASTERZAM was subject to a veterinary check which revealed nothing amiss. HISTORIUM (J&D Fahey) stood down at Otago GRC meeting on 22 January 2009. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 31 January 2009.
Race 4 NEW ZEALAND RACING SERIES SPRINT #9 - RESq - 295 Heat 1 In the run to the turn AMBERSMOOTH moved outwards into the path of MADAME JO JO with a resultant check to NOT A WHATA. Into the straight ROSIE RETURN ran out striking MADAME JO JO and impeding the running of NOT A WHATA with all three dogs losing ground to finish at the rear. HOMEBUSH CASTOR (JT McInerney) stood down at Otago GRC meeting on 22 January 2009. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 28 January 2009. A subsequent application under Rule 82.5 was made on 26 January 2009, and at examination at 5.30pm that day by veterinarian DM Mathieson, HOMEBUSH CASTOR was found with right wrist and right hock lameness with a further 14 day stand down recommended. Rule 82.5. 14 days up to and including 8 February 2009. ZAMMY (RD Blackburn) starter in Race 3.
Race 5 NEW ZEALAND RACING SERIES SPRINT #9 - RESq - 295 Heat 1 CHILE WILL HE was slow to jump and never recovered to finish 7th. Into the turn NURSE NANCY moved outwards into the path of WILLY ECHO and KNOW HELP, with a resultant check to HOMEBUSH DUNCAN who went backwards to finish last.
Race 6 ROBBIE'S BAR & BISTRO STAKES - C0 - 520 HOME BUSH PERCY was a late scratching when found with a bleeding left front dew claw and bruising to the face when removed from the kennels prior to race start time. There were no race incidents. HOMEBUSH PERCY (JT McInerney) was a late scratching prior to race start time when found to have facial injuries and a bleeding left front dew claw as a result of the muzzle catching in the mouth. Rule 68.26. 5 days up to and including 31 January 2009.
Race 7 ANGLER'S ARMS TAVERN SPRINT - C1 - 295 CLEEVE HILL was slow to leave the starting boxes and never recovered to finish back in the field.
Race 8 COASTER'S TAVERN DASH - C0 - 295 CAWBOURNE HANDS was slow to jump and was well back early but ran on late for 5th. Shortly after the jump BREENYS BOY ran outwards and struck HE'S A LION with HOMEBUSH JAN receiving a check and losing ground to finish 8th. TARYN ROSE (AH Lee) in season. Rule 64.10. 28 days up to and including 19 February 2009.
Race 9 EXCELSIOR SPORTS BAR & TAB DASH - C0 - 295 Into the turn CAP FANTASTIC ran inwards and checked the running of EASY FINANCE, HOMEBUSH KELLY and HOMEBUSH LIBBY with these three dogs losing ground to finish at the rear. EASY FINANCE was subject to a veterinary check which revealed a spike wound to the right hand leg with a 10 day stand down recommended. DIRT TRAK COWBOY (MJ Flipp) right front proximal joint of dew claw sprained. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 4 February 2009. HOMEBUSH JAN (JT McInerney) starter in Race 8. EASY FINANCE (CJ Weir) spike wound to right hand leg muscle. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 5 February 2009.
Race 10 PICK 6 LEG 1 - C1 - 295 CHILE DAN was slow to jump. In the run to the turn CHESTNUT pushed outwards and checked the running of LEO'S BOY. Into the home straight LEO'S BOY clipped the rear of CAWBOURNE BURST with both dogs finishing at the tail of the field. CAWBOURNE BURST was subject to a veterinary check which revealed no injury.
Race 11 HAMPDEN TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 520 All clear.
Race 12 COALGATE TAVERN SPRINT - C1 - 295 KARAMEA LABRI jumped awkwardly, pulled up briefly then shortened stride to finish a distant last. A post race veterinary check revealed the dog to have a tear to her left hind gracilus with a 28 day stand down recommended. REWIND HISTORY (LJ Waretini) right hind low grade sesamoid pain. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 2 February 2009. KARAMEA LABRI (JT McInerney) torn left hind gracilus. Rule 82.1. 28 days up to and including 23 February 2009.
Race 13 YALDHURST TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 520 In the run to the first turn VIVALDI ROAD moved outwards and checked SUDDEN SAM. Then on the turn SUDDEN SAM struck the rear of KNOW TELLING who was subject to a veterinary check which revealed a left hind toe nail injury with a 10 day stand down recommended. KNOW TELLING (GA Cleeve) left hind toe nail injury. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 5 February 2009.
Race 14 SPEIGHTS SIX PACK - C1 - 520 All clear.
Race 15 BE BACK FRIDAY NIGHT DISTANCE - C0d - 645 On the first turn TRUSTEE moved outwards and came into contact with KAIAPOI FIRST with both dogs losing ground and finishing at the rear. BE POSITIVE (RD Blackburn) off food, temperature 39.7. Dog presented. Veterinary ceetificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 31 January 2009.
