Judicial report: Weather: Fine Trainer HS Laagland was fined $50.00 for a breach of Rule 69.11 when MAMBO SAM weighed in at 34.5 kgs which was 1.1 kgs above his last race weight on 2 January 2009.

THRILLING FIZZ also received a check at this stage and lost two lengths. ONSET was held up by tiring runners in the back straight and forced to travel wide to obtain a run. She made ground for fifth. |

| Race 3 | WALNUT THE CLOWN SPRINT - C0 - 318 | Favourite WHAT'S UP ADIOS was slow to jump and then forced onto the running rail twice in the back straight finishing well back. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury. THRILLING JENNA received an interrupted run in the back straight before running home well for second. On the home turn LOONEY MAGIC ran outwards with RAT INDEED coming into contact with it and turning LOONEY MAGIC sideways for a stride. Shortly after the line SANTO GOLD appeared to falter with a post race veterinary check revealing a suspected long head triceps injury with a fourteen day stand down recommended. | Race 4 | BOUNCE & PLAY FIRST 4 - C1 - 318 | JILL and MOONSHINE LASS came together in the run down the back while soon after JILL was dragged down by THRILLING JIM and lost ground. Favourite THRILLING SIOUX was tightened in the early rush and only received clear room on the home bend running on fairly for fifth. Following the race JILL was subject to a post race veterinary check that revealed a sprained toe with a fourteen day stand down recommended. AGENT WHALE (SC Mann) starter in Race 9. JILL (MJ Lozell) sprained toe. Rule 82.1. 14 days up to and including 31 January 2009. |
| Race 5 | JACK'S WHOLESALE MEATS SPRINT - C1 - 318 | Favourites NATIONAL DEBT and HALSTROM BALE were both slow to jump. An improving NATIONAL DEBT came together with PARK RED into the bend for a stride with NATIONAL DEBT making good ground for second. Following the race CATCH THE BREEZE was subject to a post race veterinary check that revealed left fore sesamoiditis with a ten day stand down recommended. KIND GESTURE (GA Lawrence) focal pain over fibula tarsal bone. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 14 days up to and including 30 January 2009. After the finish HOMEBUSH BREE and DREAM ON CYRUS took a tumble with post race veterinary checks revealing no injury to DREAM ON CYRUS but a deltoid muscle injury to HOMEBUSH BREE with a seven day stand down recommended. HOMEBUSH BREE (Freeman/Turnwald) right deltoid muscle injury after fall. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 24 January 2009. |
| Race 8 | NISSAN STAKES - C1 - 527 | Favourite SATSUMA was last into the first bend and checked off runners soon after. He made up a lot of ground to run third. |
| Race 9 | OWNAGREYHOUND.CO.NZ SERIES FINAL - C1f - 318 | The whole field except THRILLING CHASE and AGENT WHALE were tightened to some degree as REZENDE crossed to the rail from its outside draw. FERVID was the worst off and this dog also also checked as QUEEN LIZZY ran outwards soon after. FERVID ran last after these incidents with a post race veterinary check revealing no injury. CAWBOURNE MELODY (Freeman/Turnwald) hip support injury. Rule 64.14. 28 days up to and including 13 February 2009. |
