Judicial report: Weather: Fine K.Jackson the Trainer of BIG DAPTO was fined $ 50-00 under Rule 69.11 when presenting the dog 1.1 kilograms underweight.
Trainer J.Gommans scratched THRILLING ZARA due to a strained hock but the officiating Vet was unable to detect the injury. However, after receiving advice that the dog had been examined off course and treated for the injury with a drug, the officiating Vet accepted the explanation and imposed a 7 day stand down. Further inquiries through the N.Z.G.R.A. will be made into this matter.

FIND PEDRO moved in on the first corner and checked HONEY BOUND and DRIVING FORWARD and all three dogs lost ground. FIND PEDRO lost further ground on the bend when tightened inside CHURCHILL but then recovered to finish well for 3rd placing. |
Race 4 | KEVIN O'CONNOR & ASSOCIATES - C1 - 457 | MAY SAGE, SKIPPER LADY and FANCY GIRL were all handy enough on the bend but were checked and dropped back to near the rear. MAY SAGE recovered to make up ground for 4th place but the other two finished at the rear. |

Race 6 | MANAWATU SOUND SERVICE - C3/4 - 375 | SIROCCO RICK, WINSOME CHANCE, GO GROOVY and BIGTIME DORA were checked on the first corner as outside runners moved in and GO GROOVY was the most affected and he lost several lengths. WINSOME CHANCE appeared to clip the heels of THRILLING COLT on the bend and fell. He was examined by the Vet and stood down for 7 days with bruising to the lumbar region. Race 8 | SPRINGFRESH WATER SPRINT - C5 - 375 | One of the favourites GRINGO was checked on the first corner losing several lengths and all chance and he finished in 3rd last place. Another of the better supported runners IN COMMAND raced wide over extra ground on the bend and into the straight and this possibly cost him the chance of a closer placing than 4th. CAWBOURNE OPAL was then checked on the bend when LUCY'S MINT moved out and she lost several lengths and finished in last place.
