Judicial report: Weather: Fine D.Scofield the Trainer of FANCY EEL was fined $ 100-00 under Rule 69.11 when the dog was presented 2.3 kilograms overweight.
TIMMY VINE completed a satisfactory trial after being stood down under Rule 80.1 b and is now clear to race.
The Manawatu G.R.C. were fined $ 100-00 under Rule 88.1 o when admitting a charge of negligence after the late withdrawl of SIROCCO RICK from race 4 after the dog had gained a start from the reserves in race 6.

The well supported MAY SAGE ran in on the first corner and collided with LAGOON BALBOA and lost momentum for a couple of strides but ran on quite well for 4th place. |

Race 6 | GEON WELLINGTON SPRINT FINAL - C4f - 375 | One of the favourites COMMANDER LEE who drew box 1 was pressured from the outside in the run to the first corner and went back to last. COMMANDER LEE then appeared to be awkwardly placed in behind JIMMY HALL on the bend and lost further ground and finished several lengths last. COMMANDER LEE was examined by the Vet as a precaution and cleared of injury or illness. WHERE'S WHIZ Brewer & Gilbert Rule 64.5 Scratched without penalty due to holding an engagement the following day at Waikato. This resulted from a re- arranged schedule after the abandonment at Waikato on 24.12.08. Race 7 | PORTER HIRE - C1 - 375 | WINSOME NERO and SHARKY MAGOO both began awkwardly and settled at the rear. WINSOME NERO then ran very wide over extra ground on the bend and into the straight and finished several lengths last. |
Race 8 | CHARLIE BOYCE, FOXTON VET - C1 - 375 | PAYNE ZONE ran in from the start and checked WINSOME DELUXE, HOT SPICEY BOY, ROBBITY BOB and CAWBOURNE FELLA who all lost ground. CAWBOURNE FELLA, HOT SPICEY BOY and OPAWA LIZ bumped together on the home turn losing several lengths and they finished in the last three places. |
Race 9 | DECOART PRINTED PRODUCTS, LEVIN - C2/3 - 375 | The favourite BACK DRAUGHT ran in from the start and caused checks to itself and BLASTING POINT, THRILLING BREE and THRILLING POLAR and all four lost ground. BACK DRAUGHT then made ground to be handy on the bend but raced onto the heels of GO BEN GO and both lost ground and they finished in the rear group.
