Judicial report: Weather: Fine D.Scofield the Trainer of FANCY EEL was fined $ 100-00 under Rule 69.11 when the dog was presented 2.3 kilograms overweight.
TIMMY VINE completed a satisfactory trial after being stood down under Rule 80.1 b and is now clear to race.
The Manawatu G.R.C. were fined $ 100-00 under Rule 88.1 o when admitting a charge of negligence after the late withdrawl of SIROCCO RICK from race 4 after the dog had gained a start from the reserves in race 6.

Race 2 SIDELINE CATERING MIDDLE DISTANCE - C0 - 457 All clear. MARCO SHARK D.Donlon Rule 64 Suffering from a stake wound in a hind leg and stood down for 10 days to and including 12.01.09.
Race 3 TOTAL IRRIGATION CENTRAL LTD - C1 - 457 PORT OF SPARTA ran in racing to the first corner and checked SOLITAIRE STAR who lost ground and then ran wide on the bend over extra ground and finished in last place. The well supported MAY SAGE ran in on the first corner and collided with LAGOON BALBOA and lost momentum for a couple of strides but ran on quite well for 4th place.
Race 4 OROUA DOWNS TANNERY - C4/5 - 375 CAB DRIVER received a slight check at the start and settled in last place but made up ground well to finish a close up 4th. FANCY EEL checked over the heels of JAMES BEE on the home turn and lost ground and finished in last place. SIROCCO RICK B.Cole A late scratching after gaining a start in race 6.
Race 5 OUTBACK TRADING COMPANY LTD - C4/5 - 457 IN COMMAND and PORCELAIN GIRL bumped together on the first corner and PORCELAIN GIRL lost three lengths and the chance of a placing and she finished in 2nd last place. LAGOON FIFI B.Cole Rule 64 Suffering from kennel cough and stood down for 10 days to and including 16.01.09. Vet certificate to be supplied. STARLIGHT JEWEL Ex Wellington on 04.01.09.
Race 6 GEON WELLINGTON SPRINT FINAL - C4f - 375 One of the favourites COMMANDER LEE who drew box 1 was pressured from the outside in the run to the first corner and went back to last. COMMANDER LEE then appeared to be awkwardly placed in behind JIMMY HALL on the bend and lost further ground and finished several lengths last. COMMANDER LEE was examined by the Vet as a precaution and cleared of injury or illness. WHERE'S WHIZ Brewer & Gilbert Rule 64.5 Scratched without penalty due to holding an engagement the following day at Waikato. This resulted from a re- arranged schedule after the abandonment at Waikato on 24.12.08. CENTRAL RAIDER T.Downey Rule 68 A late scratching due to suffering from a tricep muscle injury and stood down for 7 days to and including 16.01.09.
Race 7 PORTER HIRE - C1 - 375 WINSOME NERO and SHARKY MAGOO both began awkwardly and settled at the rear. WINSOME NERO then ran very wide over extra ground on the bend and into the straight and finished several lengths last.
Race 8 CHARLIE BOYCE, FOXTON VET - C1 - 375 PAYNE ZONE ran in from the start and checked WINSOME DELUXE, HOT SPICEY BOY, ROBBITY BOB and CAWBOURNE FELLA who all lost ground. CAWBOURNE FELLA, HOT SPICEY BOY and OPAWA LIZ bumped together on the home turn losing several lengths and they finished in the last three places.
Race 9 DECOART PRINTED PRODUCTS, LEVIN - C2/3 - 375 The favourite BACK DRAUGHT ran in from the start and caused checks to itself and BLASTING POINT, THRILLING BREE and THRILLING POLAR and all four lost ground. BACK DRAUGHT then made ground to be handy on the bend but raced onto the heels of GO BEN GO and both lost ground and they finished in the rear group. BAXTER'S BOY B.Goldsack Rule 68 A late scratching due to suffering from a quadricep muscle injury and stood down for 7 days to and including 13.01.09.
Race 10 MORRIE GIBBONS SIGNS - C2 - 375 The favourite WONGAWILLINEV was severely checked on the first corner and went back to last. He received another check on the bend when racing onto the heels of KID DELANEY and he finished in 2nd last place. THRILLING DUTCH Udy & McCracken Rule 64 Suffering from vomitting and diarrhoea and stood down for 10 days to and including 16.01.09.
