Judicial report: Weather: Overcast Handler Andrew Taylor was fined $50.00 after he admitted a breach of Rule 71.4 in that he failed to catch COOL HEART as arranged.

| Race 2 | 0800 4 DOWN COW C0 SERIES HEAT 1 - C0q - 457 Heat 1 | The leading two dogs got very close to the lure into the bend. It was established that a wheel on the lure had sheared off during the race. The stewards determined that no dog had been substantially inconvenienced as per Rule 75.1 and authorised payment of dividends. The lure was replaced before the next race. CAWBOURNE BOTROS and GALILEO came together soon after the jump losing ground with CAWBOURNE BOTROS hitting the running rail into the bend. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury. THRILLING ALI was checked into the bend and settled well back. |
| Race 3 | STACEY SINGERS DISTANCE - C1/2d - 650 | COOL HEART was checked as RIALTO ROSIE crossed it into the back straight and lost ground. COOL HEART was held up on two occasions before the home turn and made good ground when clear for third. |
| Race 4 | DAWN TIL DUSK CAFE & RESTAURANT C0 SERIES HEAT 2 - C0q - 457 Heat 1 | LINE UP was slow from the inside running on for fifth. Into the bend LOU BALE was tightened and lost ground with FAILED TO STOP receiving a check in behind her. These dogs tailed the field home. |
| Race 5 | KIHI KIHI FISH SHOP C0 SERIES HEAT 3 - C0q - 457 Heat 1 | HARBOUR BALE was checked into the bend dropping to the rear. Favourite TALENT CITY led until the home turn but weakened in the last fifty metres finishing fifth. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury. COMET PRINCESS (W Steele) strained left fore toe. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 21 days up to and including 11 January 2009. |
| Race 6 | SMART BARNS DASH - C4 - 375 | SUISSA ran outwards on the home turn losing ground and coming together with TERROR JIM. SUISSA made ground well once balanced in the straight to run a close third. |
| Race 7 | FIRST SOVEREIGN TRUST WAIKATO CLASSIC HEAT 1 - RESq - 457 Heat 1 | PADDY BOND got on the back of WINSOME LIGHT just prior to the home turn with WINSOME LIGHT losing ground. In this incident KNOW HELP and SHAKIN' MARTINI were also badly checked back in the field. JOHNNY MIDNIGHT (J&D Fahey) dew claw injury. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 28 December 2008. SHINE FOR US (W Steele) starter in Race 9. |
| Race 8 | FIRST SOVEREIGN TRUST WAIKATO CLASSIC HEAT 2 - RESq - 457 Heat 1 | AWESOME VOYAGE, SENSATIVE HARRY, NELLY JEAN and GUNNADOO DREAMS were all in tight quarters in the initial run to the bend. WINSOME FLYER hit the rail just prior to the first bend and took a heavy fall checking AWESOME VOYAGE and NELLY JEAN out of the race. WINSOME FLYER then ran over the harness track and through a gap in the outside fence eventually being caught in the stabling area. A post race veterinary check revealed grazes to his stifle and base of tail with a seven day stand down recommended. KNOW LOVE (GA Cleeve) was a late scratching at kennelling with diarrhoea. Rule 68.26. 5 days up to and including 6 January 2009. WINSOME FLYER (J&D Fahey) grazes to stifle and base of tail after fall. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 8 January 2009. |
| Race 9 | FIRST SOVERIGN TRUST WAIKATO CLASSIC HEAT 3 - RESq - 457 Heat 1 | FIND PEDRO was checked into the bend and lost ground. KNOW QUESTION raced very wide into the bend and crossed in front remaining wide but battling well for second. WINSOME WOKEYE (DD Schofield) dog deceased CAWBOURNE WILKO (Brewer/Gilbert) kennel cough. Rule 64.5. 28 days up to and including 18 January 2009. SHAKIN' MARTINI (GA Cleeve) starter in Race 7. |
| Race 10 | FIRST SOVEREIGN TRUST WAIKATO CLASSIC HEAT 4 - RESq - 457 Heat 1 | CHILE TART was tightened into the bend and lost ground. Following the race REAL CLASSIC was subject to a post race veterinary check that revealed a sprained toe with a fourteen day stand down recommended. REAL CLASSIC (W Steele) sprained toe. Rule 82.1. 14 days up to and including 15 January 2009. |
| Race 11 | LIQUORLAND CAMBRIDGE DASH - C5 - 375 | IN COMMAND and GRINGO were both checked early in the race losing ground. As IN COMMAND improved he pushed GRINGO and ASHBOURNE FALCON very wide around the bend with these runners dropping to the rear. |
