Judicial report: Weather: Beautifully fine and hot The enquiry opened and adjourned against Mr J.McInerney Jnr under Rule 88 in respect of the boxing of the greyhound HOMEBUSH CASTOR in Race 10 was reconvened. Mr McInerney advised that he had difficulty closing the lids with the dog's back legs splayed out and he had been held up by another handler loading a dog. Mr McInerney was formally warned of his obligation to load greyhounds as quickly as possible and to advise the Stewards of any greyhound difficult to load.
An enquiry was opened and adjourned against Mr JR Goode under Rule 88.1.o in respect of an incident at the Christchurch GRC club trials on 29 December 2008 pending further enquiries.

Race 1 HAPPY NEW YEAR SPRINT - C4 - 295 ELITE BAXTER was very slow to leave the starting boxes and lost several lengths but ran on in the straight for 5th place. Into the turn KNOW WHAT checked off the rear of WORLD WARNING with both dogs losing momentum to finish at the rear of the field.
Race 2 ADVANCE PERFORMANCE DASH - C5 - 295 WILD ST. TEDDY sustained a bad check when squeezed beteen PIZZA GIRL and an improving ANOTHER MANGLES when vying for the lead. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury. Soon after KARL BAXTER was checked when tightened between CHASER'S WAR and ROCKA HULA, and he finished at the rear with WILD ST. TEDDY.
Race 3 CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL-UP STAKES - C1/2 - 520 On the first turn as FLYING ASPEN was vying for the lead he collided with METRO SCOOP . Both dogs were pushed down towards the running rail where they severely checked the running of PANGO WILL HE, WILLY FLIRT and FROSTY EQUATOR. METRO SCOOP stumbled for a few strides, fell, but regained her feet to finish the race. All five dogs filled the last five placings. METRO SCOOP and WILL FLIRT were subject to post race veterinary checks which revealed no injury.
Race 4 BARRONS SUPPLIES SPRINT - C2 - 295 From the jump KNOW GO moved inwards and checked GATLIN ANGEL who went back to last where she finished. Into the turn KATHLEEN BOY crossed over and came into contact with BETTY BEATZER then stumbled for a few strides and checked the running of NATASHA'S DUFFER. KATHLEEN BOY finished on late for 4th just ahead of NATASHA'S DUFFER.
Race 5 WILSONS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C5 - 520 On the first turn SALLY BAXTER checked off BAXTERS LAD and went back to finish in 7th place.
Race 6 WWW.WILLYWHATATSTUD.COM DASH - C5 - 295 Into the turn LEUMEAH MISS moved outwards and severely checked the running of CAWBOURNE HAPPY who went back to finish in 7th place. Also checked were HISTORIUM, ANOTHER GALE and TONY KNOWS.|
Race 7 2009 FLAIR LADIES BRACELET - SPECAf - 520 As ELARA drove to the lead CYBER BLUE checked out and forced WINSOME UNO into the path of WILL SHE ECHO who was turned sideways before being struck by ENDURO SKYE who fell heavily. Into the turn HEAR THE CHEERS was squeezed up between CYBER BLUE and WINSOME UNO and went back to the rear. In the back straight HEAR THE CHEERS struck GROOVY FINANCE'S hind quarters losing further ground. Both WILL SHE ECHO and ENDURO SKYE were subject to post race veterinary checks. ENDURO SKYE was found to have a dislocated radius/ulna/carpus with a 60 day stand down recommended. Nothing was amiss with WILL SHE ECHO. ENDURO SKYE (A Hart & K Taylor) dislocated radius/ulna/carpus. Rule 82.1. 60 days up to and including 1 March 2009.
Race 8 SHIRLEY VETERINARY SPRINT - C4 - 295 In the run to the turn BIONIC DREAM was squeezed between SIR KRETION and SWIFT TOKEN and went backwards. Into the home straight BIONIC DREAM received a further check off CADBURY HAND and never recovered to finish last. WHISKY LEE GIRL (JT McInerney) weight loss, lethargy and high temperature. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 6 January 2009.
Race 9 WWW.CANTERBURYPROPERTY.CO.NZ STAKES - C4 - 520 In the run to the first turn DANCE JUDGE when vying for the lead appeared to tie up and drift back through the field to finish a distant last. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury. IN TOM'S MEMORY was also subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed nothing amiss. SATAN'S PLOT (JT McInerney) infected left elbow. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 14 days up to and including 13 January 2009.
Race 10 DAVE ROBBIE PHOTOGRAPHER DASH - C3 - 295 In the run to the turn GENISTA SPIRIT checked off OLD MATE BOB and lost momentum but ran on late for 4th. FIVE ACROSS also received a check off the rear of HOMEBUSH MATE and went back to finish last.
