Race 1	HEADSTONES WAIRARAPA - C0f - 290	PORT OF SPARTA and HOMEBUSH SPIDER jostled together for several strides in the run to the first corner and they settled back and finished at the rear. HOMEBUSH TARNZ was checked and fell on the first turn but was not injured.
Race 2	CALTEX SERVICE STATION - C2/3 - 290	BOY GENIUS began awkwardly and lost three lengths. On the home turn BOY GENIUS and SWEET SECRET bumped together and SWEET SECRET was pushed very wide on the track losing several lengths and they finished in the last two places.
Race 3	OSBOURNE BUILDING LIMITED - C0f - 545	SPEEDILICIOUS was checked and fell on the first corner and THIRD UMPIRE was hindered by the fallen dog and lost four lengths. SPEEDILICIOUS was examined by the Vet and stood down for 10 days with a thigh muscle injury. SHEZA RATBAG made firm contact with the rail in the back straight and was also examined by the Vet and cleared of injury. TESSIE BEAR D.Kettlewell Rule 64 Suffering from a toe injury and stood down for 21 days to and including 15.01.09. SPEEDILICIOUS Freeman& Turnwald Checked and fell and suffered a muscle injury to near hind thigh. Rule 82.1 10 days stand down to and including 6.01.09
Race 4	CARLS ROOFING SERVICE - C1 - 290	All clear. JEWEL Gained a start in race 5.
Race 5	EWEN GLASS - C1f - 545	DRIVING FORWARD and LITTLE GYMNIST bumped together on the first corner and both lost ground and stayed back throughout to finish in the last two places. JUST FOREVER Gained a start in race 7.
Race 6	HIRE SHOP MASTERTON - C1f - 290	BIG DAPTO was checked and lost ground soon after the start when HOMEBUSH VIEW ran in after starting from box 8. SHARKY MAGOO was held up for a few strides on the bend when in behind HOMEBUSH VIEW but finished on for 3rd when in the clear. THRILLING MARIA M.Goodwin Now deceased.
Race 7	NZRS #4 FINAL - RESf - 545	ARE YOU ENVIOUS went off stride on the first bend and dropped out to finish a long last. ARE YOU ENVIOUS was examined by the Vet and found to have suffered a fractured hock and was euthanased. WHAT SHIRAZ O.Marron Rule 64 Suffering from neck muscle soreness and stood down for 10 days to and including 06.01.09. ARE YOU ENVIOUS O.Marron Rule 82 Suffered a fractured hock and was euthanased.on humane grounds.
Race 8	SABA MOTOR COURT - C2f - 290	BIGTIME LASS was checked and fell on the home turn and BLUE DENIM and DILANA were also affected in the incident and lost ground. BIGTIME LASS suffered from a metacarpal fracture and was euthanased on humane grounds. DILANA also suffered from a metacarpal injury and was euthanased. LUNAR SANDS M.Goodwin Rule 64 Suffering from vomitting and diarrhoea and stood down for 28 days to and including 19.01.09. BIGTIME LASS L.D.Bell Rule 82 Checked and fell and suffered a metacarpal fracture and was euthanased on humane grounds. DILANA C & W Morris Rule 82 Checked and suffered.a metacarpal injury and euthanased on humane grounds.
Race 9	MORE FM - C4/5 - 290	HUTT PARK LASS was checked and fell on the first corner but was not injured. BACHELOR was hindered by the fallen dog and lost ground and tailed the field to the finish.
Race 10	WAIPUKURAU RACES ON 8TH JAN - C1 - 290	CATCH THE BREEZE, TUI THUNDER, NATURE RULES and LESS THAN IDEAL were checked on the bend losing ground and they finished in the last four places. LESS THAN IDEAL suffered a dislocated toe and was stood down for 14 days. KYLASI Scratched due to a Club error. LESS THAN IDEAL G.Holswich Rule 82 Checked and suffered a dislocated toe and stood down for 14 days to and including 10.01.09.
