Judicial report: Weather: Fine The inquiry under Rule 43.7 adjourned at Christchurch in respect of CARNABY (RD Blackburn) was re convened. Blackburn pleaded not guilty to the charge. After hearing the facts surrounding the grading of the dog which included a failure of the NZGRA computer system, and the Christchurch Club officials not detecting the grading anomaly, no fine was imposed. CARNABY was disqualified from his first placing in accordance with Rule 43.7. The ammended placings are:
1st: HOMEBUSH BURT (CJ Weir)
2nd: KARAMEA LABRI (JT McInerney)
3rd: SOICHIRO (JT McInerney)

Race 1 ADDED ENERGY WELCOME - C0 - 390 SLIGHTLY FOXED jumped to the lead from the boxes but into the first bend was tightened along with MULBERRY MADAM, both drifting through the field. Into the home straight SLIGHTLY FOXED again lost ground when checking out off MULBERRY MADAM.
Race 2 OSBORNE ENGINEERING BLUFF - C0 - 390 All clear.
Race 3 BRENDON BURKE @ SOUTHERN WIDE - C1 - 390 KARAMEA LABRI was last to jump from the boxes. Into the bend MULBERRY NIPPER was tightened between CHILE DAN and HOMEBUSH ASTRID losing ground. Into the home straight BERT BADGER ran wide when racing at the rear. Short of the wining post KARAMEA LABRI struck the hindquarters of BURST ON BYE both losing momentum.
Race 4 $22 MUZZLE STAKES - C0 - 457 OHOKA TASH was tightened between TALENT CITY and GREAT KAY'S into the bend losing ground. BOTANY ADAM ran wide around the bend. Into the home straight TALENT CITY ran wide before straightening and colliding with GREAT KAY'S. SLICK NOTCH (MJ Flipp) pain in right hip. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 19 December 2008.
Race 5 ILT SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE - C3 - 390 THRILLING RILEY was slow from the boxes and finished last.
Race 6 SOUTHLAND TIPPING COMPETITION - C1 - 390 TICTAC MAN was slow to jump. Into the bend FANCY WAYS struck the heels of NIKOS PORSCHE who came back on TICTAC MAN both losing all chance. In the home straight an improving NIKOS PORSCHE and ANOTHER KERRY came together.
Race 7 LONESTAR CAFE & BAR - C2/3 - 390 FINE ARTS was tightened into the bend. Soon after KATHLEEN BOY tightened NITRO VIXEN who came back on FAST HAND, both losing ground. A post race veterinary check on NITRO VIXEN revealed a possible torn gracilus on the left hind leg with a 7 day stand down recommended. NITRO VIXEN (Hart/Taylor) bruising and possible minor tear to left gracilus. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 17 December 2008.
Race 8 WILLIAM LYNN STAKES - C1 - 390 MAXWELL COOL was squeezed soon after the jump settling at the rear and never improving. VOODOO CHARM was tightened into the bend coming back on FROSTY BLONDE both losing ground. NITRO PEGGY (Hart/Taylor) stood down at Christchurch GRC on 9 December 2008. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 18 December 2008.
Race 9 WWW.SOUTHLANDGREYHOUNDS.CO.NZ - C1 - 457 From the jump OFF THE RAILS pushed outwards and came into contact with VIVALDI ROAD. Into the bend ZORRO MAN crossed over and checked VIVALDI ROAD who went out wide on the track forcing JACKALICIOUS even wider with UP TOWN LASS also impeded by the outward movement. VIVALDI ROAD was subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed no injury. UP TOWN LASS was also subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed lameness to the left fore limb with a 7 day stand down recommended. BRAVE ENDEAVOUR (Hart/Taylor) stood down at Christchurch GRC on 9 December 2008. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 15 December 2008. UP TOWN LASS (R Adcock) sore on 5th digit of left fore foot. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 17 December 2008.
Race 10 WAXY O'SHEAS IRISH PUB - C2 - 390 TEDDY NOVA was slow from the outside box. RONRAY DISCO tightened PARANOVA into the bend who lost ground coming back on ETOILE NOIR who was in turn struck by NITRO MOWIE, all three losing their chance.
Race 11 CHRISTMAS STAKES - C4 - 390 All clear. HAILSTONE HERB (JT McInerney) vomitting and diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 16 December 2008.
Race 12 SGRC SOUTH ISLAND BREDERS SERIES #2 ROUND 2 - SPECAq - 457 Heat 1 Into the bend COASTERZAM moved outwards and checked the running of CONTINUE who was turned sideways into the path of DIAMOND MILL who fell heavily. She regained her feet to finish a distant last. KNOW QUESTION was forced wide on the track by the falling DIAMOND MILL and finished back in 7th place. A post race veterinary check on DIAMOND MILL revealed nothing amiss.
Race 13 SOUTHERN FLOOR CARE - C4/5 - 390 From the jump KNOW HELP moved inwards forcing CADBURY HAND into the path of SAINT DANIEL who stumbled and lost ground. On the bend HOMEBUSH DUNCAN checked off the rear of SAINT DANIEL and lost momentum to finish at the rear. GO STRAIT THREW (JT McInerney) stood down at Christchurch GRC on 9 December 2008. Rule 82.1. 14 days up to and including 22 December 2008.
Race 14 ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C5 - 390 SAMUAL BAXTER, BAXTERS LAD, DUWANNA HAND and BAXTER'S GENERAL were badly checked as a result of tightening by dogs on their outer losing all chance. SAMUAL BAXTER and DUWANNA HAND were both subject to veterinary checks which revealed no injuries sustained by either dog.
Race 15 FROG 'N' FIRKIN - C5 - 457 In the run to the bend SMASH PALACE moved inwards and checked the running of MICK BAXTER who lost momentum and tailed off to finish last.
