BENBULBEN BEN and WONGAWILLISTEVE were checked again on the first corner and lost all chance of a placing. |
Race 2 | GUTHRIE BOWRON, WANGANUI - C2 - 305 | HOMEBUSH BREE began awkwardly losing ground but recovered to be handy on the first corner. She was checked at that point and dropped back onto LUCY'S MINT and they stayed back to finish in the rear group. BIGTIME THUNDER ran in and JILL ran out at the start resulting in LUCY'S MINT, LESS THAN IDEAL and COLERIDGE ANDIE being tightened and losing ground. |

Race 4 | DIMOCKS RETRAVISION - C3 - 305 | GO GROOVY, CRYSTAL SAL, PAPAMOA LASS and HOMEBUSH BEX were checked on the first corner with HOMEBUSH BEX falling and the other three losing several lengths and all chance. HOMEBUSH BEX was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury. |
Race 5 | MORRIE GIBBONS SIGNS - C4 - 520 | The favourite PINK RELTUB was away well but appeared to go off stride with a circuit to run and dropped out to finish in last place. PINK RELTUB was examined by the vet and cleared of injury but there was a possiblity that the dog had suffered from cramp. |
Race 6 | KEENAN CONCRETE - C5 - 305 | POLSKA ran in from the start and caused checks to LEUMEAH MISS, TWIST MIST and ANOTHER LAUREL who all lost ground. On the bend POLSKA began to drift back and LEUMEAH MISS who was following was checked and lost ground and finished in 3rd last place. |
Race 7 | MICKEY'S SUPER LIQUOR - C5 - 520 | The favourite COSMIC ZEUS was a little slow away and after drawing box 7 was forced to race wide over extra ground on the first bend and was last into the back straight. COSMIC ZEUS did make up some ground from there and finished in 5th place. |
Race 8 | WANGANUI FARM SUPPLIES - C5 - 305 | HILLYS TIP moved out off the heels of WHISKY LEE GIRL in the back straight and FUN AND PROFIT who was on the outside was jostled for several strides. |
Race 9 | WANGANUI SECURITY SERVICES - C4 - 305 | HOMEBUSH PHOEBE was checked and fell on the first corner and PATTYS ANSWER was unable to avoid that runner and also fell. Both were examined by the Vet and stood down for 7 days. At the lure at the finish of the race ARATAKI attacked BIGTIME WORLD and forced that runner over the rail. The handler of BIGTIME WORLD B.Cole attempted to remove ARATAKI from the situation but the dog then tried to attack him and then went back to attack BIGTIME WORLD and was forcibly removed by Mr Cole. An inquiry into the incident was opened and adjourned. PATTYS ANSWER G & S Hayden Holmes Rule 82 Fell and suffered severe grazing and stood down for 7 days to and including 25.09.08. HOMEBUSH PHOEBE P.Knight Rule 82 Fell and suffered a cut thigh and stood down for 7 days to and including 25.09.08. |
