Judicial report: Weather: Overcast CLAN SLITHER (HG Cairns) completed a satisfactory trial under Rule 81 as required from the meeting of the Christchurch GRC on 26 September 2008.
Race one started late and an enquiry was opened. There were two seven dog qualifying trials prior to this race and at least three handlers were involved in the trials and race one. The second qualifying trial finished about eight minutes prior to race one with insufficient time for handlers to return from 295 boxes and get dogs ready for race one.
The club was advised that qualifying trials must be completed at least 20 minutes before the first race start time.

| Race 2 | CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL-UP STAKES - C0 - 520 | From the jump JEALOUS GUY pushed over to the rail and checked the running of DASHER'S GIRL and LES BAXTER. On the first turn ARBUCKLE PAK checked off the rear of LES BAXTER and went backwards but improved in the run home to get up for fourth. AILIE BALE (AC Roberts) right shoulder skin tear. | Race 4 | ANGLERS ARMS SEFTON SPRINT - C1 - 295 | Soon after the jump MOJAVE MICK and ROCKA HULA came together. Soon after ROCKA HULA was clipped from behind by MOJAVE MICK and went back to the rear but finished on late for fourth. Into the straight HE'S SO FINE moved out and collided with HATIPOV when back in the field. |
| Race 5 | INDEPENDENT CARPETS CRANFORD STAKES - C1 - 520 | Soon after the start DON THE HOP, CLAN SAVIOUR and MOUNT RILEY came together. Soon after DON THE HOP checked off HIDDEN SECRET and as a result the trailing CLAN SAVIOUR was checked. |
| Race 6 | WILSON'S SPORTS BAR DASH - C4 - 295 | Into the bend CALL ME drifted wide on the track and was climbed on by CADBURY HAND and was dragged down, both dogs losing all chance. A post race veterinary examination of CALL ME revealed multiple abrasions on the dog's left hind leg with a 7 day stand down recommended. VULCAN EARL (JT McInerney) right groin sprain. Dog presented. | Race 7 | GEORGE CALVERT CLEANING STAKES - C1 - 520 | Into the bend DIAMOND MILL ran away from the rail and pushed CYBER QUEEN into GUNNA SMOKE who was checked. The trailing HOMEBUSH BRADLEY was also checked in this incident. ROBBITY BOB (JR Goode) right groin sprain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. | Race 8 | THE MILLER BAR & CAFE SPRINT - C3 - 295 | Soon after the start the favourite JILL BAXTER stumbled when racing in tight quarters between HISTORY NEVER and MR PROVOCATIVE. Then KNOW CENTS ran out and contacted HISTORY NEVER at the same time as MICRO SISSY improved around the outside resulting in THRILLING RILEY being badly checked. The trailing JILL BAXTER was also checked in this incident. |
| Race 9 | HAMPDEN TAVERN STAKES - C2 - 520 | WILL SHE ECHO was slow to jump but improved along the rail to fly home and just miss winning. Short of the winning post WILL SHE ECHO switched ground to the outside and clipped the heels of COASTERZAM who was unbalanced but held on to win. HOMEBUSH BUBBLES (JT McInerney). | Race 10 | DAVE ROBBIE PHOTOGRAPHER DASH - C0 - 295 | Into the bend BETTY BEEP was dragged down from behind by the trailing PAREORA DOLL and dropped back quickly. Soon after PAREORA DOLL was galloped on by HAGLER and was badly checked. A post race veterinary inspection of PAREORA DOLL revealed nothing amiss. |
