Judicial report: Weather: Fine Trainer AM Cleaver was fined $50.00 for a breach of Rule 69.11 when NUTTY SQUIRREL weighed in at 37.3 kgs which was 1.2 kgs under its last race weight on 17 August 2008.

Race 1 THE BROWNZY'S SPORTS BAR SPRINT - C0 - 318 RAPID FOOT was slow to jump. PORT OF SPARTA checked outwards off the heels of THRILLING PLAY and MISS OBEDIENCE into the turn and lost ground. Soon after this RAPID FOOT was also checked in behind runners.
Race 2 JACK'S WHOLESALE MEATS SPRINT - C3 - 318 CONTAGEN and DELLACQUA were both slow to jump from the inside boxes. Favourite ULTIMATE DEAL appeared to be clipped by DREAMAQUEEN and faltered at the end of the back straight and finished a long last. DREAMAQUEEN and DELLACQUA also lost their chances as ULTIMATE DEAL ran to the outside. A post race veterinary check of ULTIMATE DEAL revealed a fractured hock with a ninety day stand down recommended. TERROR JIM got a check from BIGTIME LEGEND in the early stages. The winner THRILLING TASHA was also subject to a post race veterinary check that revealed no injury. ULTIMATE DEAL (W Steele) fractured hock. Rule 82.1. 90 days up to and including 5 December 2008.
Race 3 GREYHOUNDS AS PETS SPRINT - C4 - 318 All clear. TESS TOKAAM (NP Green) right hind deep pad lesion. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 14 days up to and including 19 September 2008. BLUE SOLDIER (SP Clark) was a late scratching at kennelling with a metatarsal joint sprain. Rule 68.26. Veterinary certificate supplied. 10 days up to and including 16 September 2008.
Race 4 PROTECTOR SAFETY STAKES - C2/3 - 527 CLOSE COMBAT was slowest to jump. He was also checked when attempting to improve into the back straight eventually running on for fifth.
Race 5 $20,000 PICK 6 - C1 - 318 All clear. SAN SHIN (DL Annette) in season. Rule 64.10. 28 days up to and including 2 October 2008. HITMAN FRED (PG Lowen) broken tail. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 21 days up to and including 26 September 2008. WHAT SHIRAZ (TA Green) infected spike wound. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 3 days up to and including 8 September 2008.
Race 6 TERRY RYAN TIMBER SPRINT - C5 - 318 CAB DRIVER ran outwards into the bend as END ZONE crossed from the outside checking BIG PA and NUTTY SQUIRREL who both lost ground. CAB DRIVER and NUTTY SQUIRREL again came together on the home turn when well back. There was no head on view available for this race.
Race 7 LECTRO HAIR & BEAUTY SPRINT - C2 - 318 MAD DECISION was the slowest to jump. MISS SILENCE was checked as THRILLING TURK crossed her to lead. MISS SILENCE dropped to the rear where she stayed.
Race 8 THORNTON AUCTIONS STAKES - C1 - 527 GATLIN JEWEL and ELITE GUN were the slowest to jump and remained well back throughout. DENNY JEWEL (BA Hunt) stood down at Wanganui GRC on 3 September 2008. Rule 82.1. 14 days up to and including 16 September 2008.
Race 9 PACIFIC SHEET & COIL STAKES - C4 - 527 EXPRESS RHODE was tightened soon after the jump settling last. He recovered down the back and went on to win impressively. RIALTO MISSION checked outwards off ROYAL SQUADRON on the first bend and lost a length. ROYAL SQUADRON stopped quickly in the run home to run last. A post race veterinary check revealed a badly injured hock and the dog was euthanased. ROYAL SQUADRON (RP O'Regan) badly injured hock. Dog euthanased.
Race 10 THE ALAMO BAR & GRILL SIX PACK - C1 - 318 KINSALE LAD dragged TRASIT down into the bend with both dogs losing ground.
