Judicial report: Weather: Raining The inquiry opened and adjourned at the meeting of the Otago GRC on 21 July 2008 under Rule 64.2. into the scratching of HATIPOV (JR Goode) from Race 5 was reconvened. The dog was suspended under Rule 64.6 for 14 days up to and including 2 August 2008 after receiving a written explanation from the trainer, with no financial penalty imposed in light of the mitigating circumstances in regard to the scratching. The trainer was cautioned regarding the matter.

Race 1 ADVANCE PERFORMANCE SPRINT - C1 - 295 Into the bend FACE OFF, ONE SICK CHICK and WORLD WARNING came together with ONE SICK CHICK dropping out to finish last. ONE SICK CHICK was subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed there was no injury.A few strides later MUNGO and JANDERRA APACHE came together and were unbalanced for a few strides before recovering to fill the minor placings.
Race 2 WILLYWHATATSTUD.COM CANTERBURY O.T.B MAIDEN - HEAT 1 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 Soon after the start BREENY'S BOY ran out and collided heavily with SHAKIN' MARTINI was twisted sideways and dropped out to finish last. A post race veterinary check revealed BREENY'S BOY to be free of injury. GRADUATED CLASS (RD Blackburn) withdrawn without penalty under Rule 64.5.
Race 3 WILLYWHATATSTUD.COM CANTERBURY O.T.B MAIDEN - HEAT 2 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 WHAT JUSTICE was very slow top leave the boxes. Soon after got on the heels of CHESNUT and lost ground. Soon after CHESTNUT ran out which caused checks to MULBERRY ECHO, KNOW LOVE and HEIST. REX BAXTER (JT McInerney) right hind pad infected. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 8 August 2008. BREENYS BOY starter in Race 2. MUM'S REFLECTION (G Kingston) veterinary certificate to be supplied.
Race 4 WILLYWHATATSTUD.COM CANTERBURY O.T.B MAIDEN - HEAT 3 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 Soon after the start TROTRO ran in and caused a check to REG BAXTER. Into the back straight TWICE AS HOT ran out and took CHILE TART and OFF THE RAILS wide on the track.
Race 5 WILLYWHATATSTUD.COM CANTERBURY O.T.B MAIDEN - HEAT 4 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 Into the first bend HOMEBUSH TREVOR was tightened and checked back through the field in turn causing EVER SO CLEVER to be hampered and forced wide on the track. Into the back straight THRILLING RITA racing in the lead moved out and caused the trailing DEAL FOR YOU to change ground. In the run to the judge DEAL FOR YOU was tightened when racing between THRILLING RITA and UP TOWN LASS.
Race 6 SPEIGHTS SIX PACK - C2 - 520 All clear
Race 7 INDEPENDENT CARPETS CRANFORD STAKES - C1 - 520 Into the first bend HANNAH BRAND pushed outward and checked GUNNA SMOKE to the rear where he remained to finish last. KNOW NEED (GA Cleeve) right elbow laceration. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 7 August 2008. FIERY FALCON (MM Grant) right shoulder muscle sprain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 4 August 2008. MR BONZALAS (SJ Whall) rash in groin area. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 2 August 2008.
Race 8 DAVE ROBBIE PHOTOGRAPHER DASH - C0 - 295 Into the bend HUGO FIRST moved out from the rail and tightened WAIMAK PAT who clipped the heels of an improving THRILLING JAZZ and fell. A veterinary examination revealed WAIMAK PAT had not suffered any injury.
Race 9 WWW.CONTAINERSDIRECT.CO.NZ STAKES - C1 - 520 All clear
Race 10 SHIRLEY VETERINARY CENTRE SPRINT - C1 - 295 From the jump GATLIN ANGEL crossed over and checked the running of DA COOLA and into the bend DA COOLA received a further check when NEED A NURSE pushed outwards. THEMELO (MM Grant) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 2 August 2008. ZAMMY (J&D Fahey) left triceps injury. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 8 August 2008.
