Judicial report: Weather: Wintry showers, hail and sunny later A charge under Rule 80.1.a was laid against R.Adcock the trainer of TINY HAND, a starter in race 7, of marring the true running of another greyhound during the race. The trainer pleaded guilty to the charge and, as this was the second similar offence, a suspension of three (3) months under Rule 80.1.a.ii was imposed up to and including 24 September 2008 and the dog was required to complete a satisfactory trial.
A Hart and K.Taylor, the trainers of NITRO MARTA, a starter in race 15, were fined $50 under Rule 69.11 when the dog weighed in 1.1 kg under her last race start weight.
There were no catchers provided for several geyhounds in Races 11 and 15, but subsequent enquiry discovered that application had been made by J.Fahey to the Assistant Stipendiary Steward for permission for some handlers to run back and catch dogs. A reminder to be given to trainers that catchers are to provided at all distances except 295m

Race 1 ADVANCE PERFORMANCE DASH - C4 - 295 From the jump HOMEBUSH BUZZ crossed over and was clipped in the rear by VULCAN EARL losing ground to finish in sixth place.
Race 2 CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL UP STAKES - C1 - 520 KARAMEA LABRI and LAGOON TALLIS were slow to leave the boxes, settling at the rear of the field and never improving. ENSIGN (R Adcock) not presented. Rule 64.5. 28 days up to and including 17 July 2008. ALL TIGER (BC Dann) was a late scratching at kennelling with diarrhoea and high temperature. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 28.26. 5 days up to and including 28 June 2008.
Race 3 WWW.GREYHOUNDTIPS.CO.NZ SPRINT - C1 - 295 All clear. Following the race PANGO WILL HE was examined by the veterinarian and found to have a left hind stifle skin laceration with a 7 day stand down recommended. PANGO WILL HE (GR McCormick) left hind stifle skin laceration sutured. Rule 82.1. 7 days up to and including 30 June 2008.
Race 4 DAVE ROBBIE PHOTOGRAPHER STAKES - C0 - 520 CAWBOURNE SHAZA went up with the starting box lid and lost two lengths, then checked off the rear of KNOW BEST into the first bend and lost all chance to finish at the rear of the field. On the first turn CLAN SLITHER was struck in the rear by WINSOME BUCKS and lost momentum to finish in seventh place. LOFFHAGEN (RM MCKenzie) right fore split web. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 3 July 2008. ARBUCKLE PARK (MP Stewart) scratched Christchurch 17 June 2008. Veterinary certificate to be supplied.
Race 5 TUESDAY PLACE PICK STAKES - C2 - 520 In the run to the first bend KNOW GLORY and WILL SHE ECHO came together and then on the turn WILL SHE ECHO struck TRENDY OPAWA. Whilst KNOW GLORY lost all chances to finish at the rear, TRENDY OPAWA ran on strongly for third and WILL SHE ECHO finished on for fourth place.
Race 6 ROBBIES BAR & BISTRO DISTANCE - C0d - 645 All clear. WOOD PIGEON (SR Fagan) diarrhoea and high temperature. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 28 June 2008.
Race 7 SCHULTZ PANEL & PAINT DASH - C0 - 295 As TINY HAND led into the home straight she ran outwards and marred the true running of DANDALOO BLUE which finished last. A charge of marring the running of another greyhound was laid against TINY HAND and a three (3) month suspension imposed and the dog required to complete a satisfactory trial before starting again. TINY HAND (R Adcock) marring the true running of another greyhound. Rule 80.1.a.ii. Three (3) months up to and including 24 September 2008 and required to complete a satisfactory trial.
Race 8 HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN LOCKETT STAKES - C3 - 520 On the first bend FIERY FALCON crossed over and struck KERNAHAN, losing ground to drift out and finish at the rear of the field.
Race 9 KOLORFUL KANVAS DASH - C2 - 295 BRANDYLICIOUS was very slow to leave the boxes and into the first turn climbed into the rear of HEAR THE CHEERS which stumbled and lost all chances. Both sogs filled the last two placings. BRANDYLICIOUS and HEAR THE CHEERS were subject to post race veterinary checks which revealed no injury sustained by either dog.
Race 10 PICK SIX LEG ONE - C4 - 520 All clear.
Race 11 WILSONS SPORTS BAR DISTANCE - C1/2d - 645 The race start was reviewed after a complaint regarding the lids of the starting boxes not opening fully.A review of the head-on video showed the boxes had opened cleanly, with no dogs chances affected and clear head-space above the dogs. The lids continued to open fully after the initial release and the club agreed to top up the hydraulic oil to ensure the boxes opened to capacity.
Race 12 GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND MAIDEN FINAL - C0f - 520 On the first turn BETTY BEATZER and DELUSIONIST vied for the lead and then went back to the rear after colliding into the back straight, both finishing well back in the field.
Race 13 WWW.CANTERBURYPROPERTY.CO.NZ STAKES FINAL - C1f - 520 Into the first bend BOTANY ALICE clipped the rear of BIDI DAHL with the result that ALL LEFT OUT and DIAMOND ELITE were forced wide on the track. All four dogs finished at the rear of the field.
Race 14 WWW.WILLYWHATATSTUD.COM DASH - C5 - 295 All clear.
Race 15 SPEIGHTS SIX PACK - C5 - 520 All clear. CAPTAIN BRUCE (MM Grant) was a late scratching at kenneling with a wound to right hind leg. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 68.26. 7 days up to and including 30 June 2008.
