Stipendiary Stewards Report

Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club

Addington Raceway ON TUESDAY 17 Jun 2008

Weather:
Track: Good Good
Scales: Correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment: The lure failed after approximately 100 metres in Race 8. During the pre race stir up for this event the lure stoipped midway down the back straight just past the rail junction giving access to the inside of the track. The inner brush of the lure had flipped out and it was put back in place by the track curator. The lure driver then completed the stir up doing an extra lap as a test, and pulling up in his correct start position. During the race the outer brush has broken the perspex brush holder at which point the lure has come to a grinding holt. The lure was replaced with the driver testing for 2 laps at race speed before the race was re run. The cause of the failure appears attributable to the section of movable rail which was realigned by the club electrician prior to last weeks meetings and had not caused problems up until again recently removed to allow a heavy vehicle into the centre of the track. Repairs are being completed to the damage lure in time for next week's meeting. The section of track raced on by the dogs was not groomed prior to the re run and a complaint was subsequently made after the event. A full review of proceedures in the event of a failure will be undertaken with the club and staff as a result.

Judicial report: Weather: Overcast and wet D Kingston was fined $50.00 for a breach of Rule 69.11 when CREEKS TO SMART, a starter in Race 3, weighed 1.1kgs under his last race start weight.
JT McInerney was fined $50.00 for a breach of Rule 69.11 when HOMEBUSH DUNCAN, a starter in Race 19, weighed 1.1kgs under his last race start weight.
K O'CONNER pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 71.4 in that she failed to ensure a handler was present to catch SOICHIRO in Race 17, and was fined $50.00.
