Race 1 McENTEE EVENT HIRE - C3 - 305 NO WARNING was checked on the first turn and dropped back onto LESHITA who lost ground and stayed back to finish in 7th place.
Race 2 WANGANUI FARM SUPPLIES - C1 - 520 KIWISAVER was checked soon after the start and lost ground. He was again checked on the final bend and finished in 2nd last place. MOST EXCUSED Ex Wanganui on 09.04.08.
Race 3 KEENAN CONCRETE 6 PACK - C2/3 - 520 JUST FOREVER and SOPHIE HALL ran wide over extra ground on the first bend and then FLY BEAU was checked entering the back straight, went back and out causing checks to SOPHIE HALL and JUST FOREVER and they never recovered and finished in the last two places.
Race 4 www.wanganuicarcentre.com - C4 - 305 One of the favourites AMBEROSE eased on the first corner, went back and was then checked soon after and went back to last and finished in that position. The video film was inconclusive as to whether the gap had closed causing the easing and AMBEROSE was given the benefit of some doubt. AMBEROSE was examined by the Vet and stood down for 10 days with a torn toenail. AMBEROSE S.Maher Rule 82 Checked and suffered a torn toenail and stood down for 10 days to and including 20.04.08.
Race 5 GUTHRIE BOWRON - C0df - 645 All clear. POSSUM BORN S.Clark Rule 64 Suffering from a foot injury and stood down for 28 days to and including 06.05.08. BOLD JENNI M.Lozell Rule 64 Suffering from kennel cough and stood down for 10 days to and including 19.04.08. THRILLING ALBERT Ex Wanganui on 09.04.08.
Race 6 GARY ROSS DECORATOR - C5q - 305 Heat 1 BLUE CHIP VIRUS was checked on the first corner, went back to last and never recovered. THRILLING PIRATE checked over the heels of another runner on the bend and moved out forcing THRILLING GYPSY very wide on the track. JAMES BEE W.T.Hodgson Rule 64 Suffering from a metatarsal injury and stood down for 10 days to and including 19.04.08
Race 7 ALLIED WORK FORCE - C4/5 - 520 AMBERSMOOTH was away well enough, was handy to the first corner but was checked and went back to near the rear, never recovered and finished in 2nd last place.
Race 8 MICKEYS SUPER LIQUOR - C5q - 305 Heat 1 GRUNDY and THRILLING SKY were tightened and checked on the first corner and they lost ground and finished in the last two places.
Race 9 MORRIE GIBBONS SIGNS - C4 - 305 WEONA PIRATE moved out on the bend to get past another runner and in doing so forced NICE CHOICE and AUSTIN to run wide into the straight over extra ground.
Race 10 DIMOCKS RETRAVISION - C2 - 305 BIGTIME JULIE ran in from the start and caused jostling to LUNAR SANDS, VOODOO CHARM and RAMROD REASON. PECCARI was checked on the first corner and soon after LUNAR SANDS was also checked and they finished in the last two places.
