The hearing, opened and adjourned at Southland GRC meeting on 14 February 2008, in respect of a charge against trainer JT McInerney under Rule 43.7 was reconvened. This related to the on line nomination of the greyhound LAGOON LAD in a Class 3 event at this meeting.
The circumstances were that LAGOON LAD won a Class 3 event at Wanganui GRC meeting on Friday 8 February 2008. McInerney nominated the dog prior to the closing of nominations for the Southland meeting which closed at 12 midday on Monday 11 February 2008. At the time of his nomination the gradings on line had not been upgraded to reflect LAGGON LAD as now being a Class 4 dog.
The Racing Sub Committee of GRNZ have since resolved that no judicial charges should be upheld in cases where a Licensed Person has completed a nomination on line in an incorrect grade, when the grade is incorrect due to a results issue. Management are looking to to hasten the automation of the results system.
